their 30.7.94 album is the epitome of the term 'underrated masterpiece' ,this one is also very very good Sun Electric - Present
Reminded again how amazing Seefeel's Spangle sounds, even better live. They are coming to the US in november!
I discovered this artist several months ago, Canadian musician Mike Carss creates ambient music under the name Altus. His back catalog can be downloaded free of charge. I especially like the album Pioneer. Great old school ambient music. altus :: aural journeys for the mind's eye Altus : Pioneer
I think that I've mentioned the 4 volume Sidereal Cycle here previously. Note that this album is part of the Free Floating Music catalog, currently US$0.50 for 38 albums at Bandcamp. --Geoff
I've recently gotten into the work by Meitei; a Japanese artist from Kyoto. He's released two albums in 2019. Here's my copy of his record called "Kwaidan / 怪談", which is, in Meitei's words; "Japanese horror folklore intricately transposed into an ambient fever dream.” Check it out:
It’s so difficult to come up with something “hidden” on a forum like this with such a wide range of members, but here’s my attempt... You’ve probably seen electronic or prog artists use racks where they’re patching cables from one spot to another and creating some cool sounds. Well, you can buy actual hardware for that, or do it in software. There is free software called VCV Rack, and I’ve been amazed at what you can do with it. For a while now, there have been compilation albums where people contribute the songs they’ve created with VCV Rack. The first album sounded more like bleeps and burps, the second was a bit all over the map, but the latest (which is the one I bought) is very much ambient. Switched On Rack Vol. 3, by Switched On Rack While separate from that project, there is a cool 24/7 Eurorack Module Radio channel on YouTube which is in the ambient realm:
These are relaxing ambient pieces that Moby made to help you get to sleep. Free: https://moby.com/la/ I also like several of Tor Lundvall's dark ambient recordings. I have them all - too many to list. My friend, Jazz organist Jim Alfredson, made an ambient recording a few years back called "In Memorandom" and I really like it a lot. He sells it at his store: http://www.big-o-records.com/zen-cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=20
Hammock - Mysterium Beautiful album released in 2017 by this duo from Nashville. It's the first of a trilogy, followed by Universalis in 2018 and Silencia in 2019. Really nice layered guitar work throughout. Parts of it remind me of Explosions In The Sky or Mogwai but without the huge occasional blasts of guitar.
Here's one I've been spinning a lot, recently. The Humble Bee & Benoît Pioulard - "I Suppose I Am Your Future", released on the Belgian label, Dauw, at the tail-end of 2019. This tune makes me think of The Caretaker, a bit:
this is becoming my favorite 90s ambient album , up there with SAW 2 and Lifeforms (that good...) I found these 2 amazing 1994 live recordings by SE, which resemble 30.7.94 very much.... Mixcloud Mixcloud
Agreed on all counts. Wonderful work. A shame that the latter are only on Mixcloud, but at least we have that. Thanks for the share, Proedros.
This is a good (new) one. Rather eerie yet gorgeous ambient with ondes martenot: Embers, by Secret Pyramid
Forgot this one...: I bought mine from 2bridges Music and Arts nyc. Great store by the way! Link below: https://boomkat.com/products/le-nid-d-ivoire ÉLODIE “Le Nid d’Ivoire stunning pressing quality, package and music
