Playtone just issued Polar Express on vinyl so maybe we’ll see TTYD on vinyl soon! I love that opening song, Lovin’ You
Lots and Lots? Have the cd at least.

Faye is so my ideal perfect dream girlfriend.

Jimmy was a fool, you just wanna slap him!

Her great line always brings me to tears.

"Faye : I have wasted thousands and thousands of kisses on you - kisses that I thought were special because of your lips and your smile and all your color and life. I used to think that was the real you, when you smiled. But now I know you don't mean any of it. You just save it for all your songs. Shame on me for kissing you with my eyes closed so tight."

Yeah Jimmy was a fool but in the end she ended up with Guy so it all worked out. all in all just a great movie! Good music, good story and great actors. By far one of my top 3 Tom Hanks movies

For some reason, I can confirm that the film is NOT "Spartacus", but 1958's "The Vikings". Credit is given at the end of the extended version. I do wonder why that was playing instead of "Spartacus".

I think Diane Dane is clearly supposed to be someone left over from the previous era, as Guy and Lenny recount their schoolboy crushes on meeting her. Mr. White also makes the comment, "A song actually climbing the charts, she'll be chartreuse with envy." when Jimmy shows her how "That Thing You Do" is doing in the Hot 100, as though she's not having much chart success anymore.

For those of you that have Ovation, they'll be showing the movie today at 12:30 PM.

that’s a bummer. There was a charity auction happening during the live stream for an autographed test pressing that ended up going for several thousand dollars. So i would have figured it would have been out by now. Are pressing plants that far behind?

Yeah, apparently. I wouldn't have thought they'd have been affected. I'm bummed. I wonder if they'll release it on the date of the original soundtrack now that it'll be the 25th anniversiary by the time they do.

The 45 of 'That Thing You Do' with the original picture sleeve, would make a wonderful RSD release.

I have a copy of that single with its picture sleeve. The record has Dance With Me Tonight on the flip side. The picture sleeve and record labels say "Demonstration - Not For Sale" on them.

"All My Only Dreams" should have been the B-side. What were they thinking?

FWIW, the US and UK Playtone pressings have different B-side songs ("Dance With Me Tonight" and "Voyage Around The Moon", respectively).

I really hope the art replicates the movie. Maybe they'll ship it with two sleeves (one with Mondo art too).

That "Dance With Me Tonight" is a better song?

  24. MarkTheShark

Sure, but in the movie, "All My Only Dreams" was the B-side of "That Thing You Do," even though they only recorded one take of it.

"Dance With Me Tonight" could have been the A-side of their next single.

Yes, I know. I just think they were trying to issue the better song.
