One was good. The second had some fun parts, but just over 1/2 way through I was ready for it to wrap up.

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

You would think they were being forced to see this, a la Alex in A Clockwork Orange. How long before someone makes the absolutely absurd claim that there's nothing but comic book movies in the theater?

Somebody apparently did: Ant Man 2 made $622 million dollars on a budget of about $195 million. I actually thought it was a surprisingly strong sequel, and I was not expecting it to be as good as it was... and the story led directly to the events of Avengers: Endgame, which as many people know, is the most successful film made in history, grossing about $2.8 billion dollars.

One thing I have to say is that the movie is just about perfectly cast, and Paul Rudd has just the right amount of humor, likability, and the actual ability to be believable as a hero, while also being a bit of a schlub. Let's face it: he has no real superpower, since he's just a guy with a metal suit that can shrink (or expand). But what makes him interesting is his resourcefulness and think outside the box, which made him the most unlikely person to save the world -- indeed, half the people in the universe -- in the most recent Avengers film. Marvel does this very well, where the bring in a couple of second-string superheroes where you initially think, "ehhhh, a guy with a bow & arrow and a Russian spy woman who can kick ass are not that special," and then the film precisely justifies why they're there and why they're important. That surprises me every time, because you'd think the least-powerful people on the team barely need to be there.

    Yay!

The burgeoning Marvel Universe is a thing of wonder. Who would have ever predicted that such a relatively insignificant character would go on to such success?

    Same goes for Guardians!
