I only buy records so I can organize later. I think that's what I really like!

I file Elton John under ‘E’ for Elton. I file Pink Floyd under ‘F’ for Floyd.

    I’m funny that way.

In preparing you for your move to New York... you move in your AV set-up, your LPs and CDs and then if you've got any extra room you squeeze in a bed and a small table and a couple of chairs; at least 1 good comfortable club chair and maybe a small couch and voila you're moved in. Now go get a couple of slices of pizza and bagels for the morning and you're all set. What more could one need?

Fair use is a pretty broad concept, so I don’t think ripping CDs or DVDs and then selling them off is illegal. This is America; it’s a jungle out there.

Seriously; when you're ready to sell let me know and I'd love the opportunity to look over your collection and buy or possibly broker what you've got... and I'll show you where to get a good slice. Another thought... although I'm not a professional curator or archivist, although I do have a pal whose at the pinnacle of the art, possibly I could catalogue your media once it's in New York. Regardless; good luck and welcome... you might not know it at first encounter; you just need know how to look... we are for the most part a pretty damn good bunch of lunatics.

Even Woody himself didn't consider himself a "professional" organizer.

I hope you're joking. Have you ever lived in a 400 square foot studio apartment?

There's also a specific law (in the US) prohibiting the decrypting of DVD content, even if it's your own disc, for your own use.

I am joking... sort of... these days; for some time I’ve been in Brooklyn where I live in 3x the space for 1/2 the rent. Don’t fear Brooklyn; it’s where it’s at... and not necessarily hipsterville.

  15. Which part is illegal? Ripping and re-selling as one action or just ripping or just re-selling?

If you rip a digital copy of a CD, it is illegal to retain that digital copy after you sell or dispose of the CD.

  17. Mmkay. I'm guess I'm not concerned.
