I heard that song "Time" by Alan Parsons again tonight. What a great song! I'm going to get that album tomorrow. Are there any other songs that are a similar vibe on any other albums....sort of a Beach Boys, 10cc, Pink Floyd type of thing?

If you mean "Time" on the "Turn Of A Friendly Card" album, you will definitely like (from a melodic point of view):
"To One In Paradise" from "Edgar Allan Poe"
"Day After Day" from "I Robot"
"If I Could Change Your Mind" from "Eve"
    "Inside Looking Out" from "Gaudi"
and the perfect "Time" clone: "Siren Song" from "Try Anything Once"

    Happy listening

...and speaking of 10cc, you might like "Blue Blue Sky" (sung by Eric Stewart) and "Too Close To The Sun" from "On Air"...

Almost EVERY Alan Parsons Project album has a "Time"-like song on it. "Time" lead singer Eric Woolfson didn't start singing lead vocals till the "Turn Of A Friendly Card" album and then after that he became the main lead vocalist on most "single" releases, if it's his voice that you are searching more of!

Also check out "Alan Parsons Project" vocalist Chris (Christopher) Rainbow's solo CD called "Looking Over My Shoulder". It was only released on CD in Japan, but it is a great tip of the hat to the Beach Boys!

How about "Don't Let It Show" from I, Robot?

You'll be well off to pick up a copy of "I Robot". I think it's the best album that the APP ever released.

I see Classic Records is offering I Robot. It's a bit expensive at $45.

"On Air" is a great CD that pretty much went unnoticed in the stereo community.

I just realized that my Alan Parsons collection has been sorely lacking so I just bought this Greatest Hits collection.....it seems to be the most complete.

I also picked up from Amazon.uk "I Robot" "Tales Of Mystery".

I've been living on their 1 cd best of that came out in the 80's. I was never a big Parsons fan for some reason (expect "Eye In The Sky" which was a big hit) so I do need to further investigate.

I do have "On Air" Alan Parson's DTS disc which sounds wonderful.

For some reason, their 80's output gets no respect  . My favorite song of theirs is "Days Are Numbers" from the (I believe) "Vulture Culture" album- beautiful song! I LOVE the "Ammonia Avenue" album: "Don't Answer Me", "Prime Time", "Ammonia Avenue".. all great songs! Their 2nd "Greatest Hits" is where I came in on, and then worked backward. I actually find their older albums lacking in the tunez department (just because I like the 80's commercial hits I guess...). But it's all good music!

I see that the APP is touring in Europe. Wonder how that's going?

There is a new Essential Alan Parsons Project compilation coming out soon, but I don't know how extensive its tracklisting is.

    Great question. Here it goes...

From "Tales of Mistery and Imagination":

    - To One in Paradise

    From "I Robot":

    - Don't let it show
    - Some other time
    - Day after day (The show must go on).

    From "Pyramid":

    - What goes up...
    - The Eagle shall rise again
    - Shadow of a lonely man

    From "Eve":

    - If I could change your mind
    - You won't be there

From "The Turn of a Friendly Card":

    - Time (Obviously! :) )
    - The Turn of a Friendly Card, pts. I & II

    From "Eye in the Sky":

    - Eye in the Sky
    - Silence and I

    From "Ammonia Avenue":

    - Ammonia Avenue

    From "Vulture Culture":

    - Sooner or later

    From "Gaudi:"

    - Inside looking out

Here, the timeline is split, since the Project died.

From Alan Parsons & Eric Woolfson's "Freudiana:"

    - Freudiana
    - Say there but for the Grace of God
    - Destiny

    From Eric Woolfson's "Gambler:"

    - Time (yeah, the same "Time", only different...)

    From Eric Woolfson's "Poe":

    - Immortal

From Alan Parsons' "Try Anything Once:"

    - Siren Song
    - Dreamscape (Instrumental)
    - Oh life (There must be more)

    From Alan Parsons' "On Air:"

    - Blue Blue Sky pts. I & II
    - Too close to the sun
    - Brother up in heaven
    - So far away (with Christopher Cross)

From Alan Parsons' "The Time Machine:"

    - No future in the past
    - The very last time

    Phew!

What is the difference between a domestic "I Robot" and an import from England?

There are two sources for the best "I Robot" sounding versions. Well, four.

I Robot - Japanese 20-bit import. This is expensive, and a rare find, indeed.
I Robot - Mobile Fidelity UHQR and Ultradisc. Both are expensive, but can be found at eBay.
The Definitive Collection - 20 bit. This one is still in print. It has the best sounding "I Robot" tracks available for a reasonable price.
I Robot - Classic Records 96/24 DVD-V. Out of this world. Enough said :)
