Fully satisfied. It could be better, but unless I come across a bunch of money it isn't happening, and my system sounds better than some I have heard costing almost twice as much. I just feel that anything more will bring in the law of diminishing return to more of a degree than I'd like.
Here's a funny thing: the less I THINK about it and the more I LISTEN to it, the more satisfied I am.
Lol...the less you think about it,the better it is doing it's job fiddling with it is fun..but ultimately it's for reproducing our music.
With my five way---four amps per side system the biggest limit is my own patience tuning it all up. The other day I considered improvements and as I like tubes I began falling in love with the idea of a tube preamp upgrade. Before pulling the trigger I decided to give my Bryston BP-25 transistor preamp a better back end by tuning up the crossover and amplitude of all my driver boxes just to see how "high end" the Bryston really is. I found out the Bryston seems for all practical purposes totally unlimited in sound quality. My speakers had more quality tones than I had heard. It was my own fault for not investigating how hard I could push the preamp. And how precise I could set the crossovers. So to sum up---it seems the system I put together 20 years ago is BETTER than I am. I still have more tone to extract simply by better setup. I also have guns that can shoot much straighter than I can hold and shoot them. So NO. I am DONE. My set limit is mostly ME. Boy you should hear it when all 8 cylinders are firing!
Satisfied with gear but I can always add another album to my collection. I figure in 15-20 years I will upgrade with another system but plan on enjoying my current systems for the mean time.
I'm very satisfied with my main and bedroom systems. I went through number of years of a merry go round of gear in and out of my system. But eventually realized listening to music is far more enjoyable than listening to my system. Certainly not state of the art gear in my two systems but pleasing to me none the less !
I'm still upgrading. I have a list in my mind of upgrades, including some more room treatment. I don't know if I will ever complete the list, though. I will have fun trying.
Whichever I found a good deal on. I saw a Pontus listed at a good price and made an offer, but was a few minutes late. I'd actually prefer a Chord Hugo as it has a volume control.
I recently tweaked whatever I wasn't satisfied with. What I recently achieved is definitely somebody's dream setup. But I am after a Hegel H360 which I have auditioned at home already.
I can see you r going the 'warm' route but how about some second hand naim. Being a little bright gives also the illusion of being more refined as well. A modern dac rather than rega dac might be a cheaper route to achieve refinement as well.
Haha, about a month ago I had that Matrix dac in my Apos cart but decided against it after more research.
There was a lot written about reliability issues with the unit. Might've been sour grapes, but I decided to wait a while.
