Arrest in 1993 murder of Gits singer Mia Zapata

Interesting story: Authorities have used DNA evidence to make an arrest in the 1993 murder of Mia Zapata, singer for the Seattle punk band The Gits.

I read that story. It would be nice if this nightmare is finally over -- at least the "unsolved" part of it.

When some of Seattle's (and other places') rockin' finest got involved, some good music came out of this, especially Joan Jett's album when she sang with the Gits on a live disc called Evil Stig ("Gits Live" backwards). She was very heavily involved in the search for the killer.

 

I do hope this news at least brings some closure. It was one of the few bits of "good" news I heard this past weekend, though Mia's story remains one of rock music's saddest.
