Artists/bands who where big in the 70's but got even bigger in the 80's?

    I disagree with the suggestion of Elton John. He never reached his 70’s plateau as a constant performer at stadiums until he teamed up with Billy Joel.

    The Elton/Billy tours didn't begin until the mid-90's.

    Same point though. Elton was certainly commercially consistent and viable in the 80's, but never matched his heights in the 70's.

    Lionel Richie was big during the 1970s as the lead singer of the Commodores and became even bigger in the 80s as a solo artist.

    I didn’t realize that they dropped Jefferson from their name before they released Knee Deep In The Hoopla. I thought it was after.
