Well, I can't think of any songs that weren't better with the addition of Mellotron. "Strawberry Fields", "2,000 Light Years From Home", "Phenomenal Cat", "Care Of Cell 44", "Space Oddity", "Kashmir", "Watcher Of The Skies", "Court Of The Crimson King", "Ladytron", "Baron Saturday:", all of Big Star Third...no prose required!

Nah. Sorry it's all much the same to me. Mellotrons are just early attempts at synthesizers.

Sign me up as someone who dislikes the mellotron, too. Major turn-off.

THere isn't a better example than Randy Described Eternity by Built to Spill. It is the First song on the first album of theirs i played. My brother and I looked at each other like we had just stumbled upon rock gods until sheer panic set in as we continued to skip song after song trying to reach that peak again. Have at it, but just know that it is a one off'er

Reminds me of Bohemian Rhapsody. How can a band have a moment of genius like this and not even ever come close to matching it. quite frustrating.

Nick lowe who i want to like but i can't find any songs i really like than this one. No reason

I can asure you that there is far more to Chris Isaak than Wicked Game
Although I'm not a big fan of Pink Floyd there is also far more to them than Comfortably Numb

I actually just brought this up in a post in a different thread.

I hate Blur but think the song "Coffee & TV" is excellent.

I don't like Michael Bolton, but for some reason I like "Missing You Now." Go figure.
I don't dislike Barry Manilow but I'm far from a fan. Then I heard the B side to "Weekend in New England" called "Say The Words." A really good song. It's on the This One's For You album.

I disagree with SO many of these choices but here's a few "controversial" picks of songs I like from bands I don't:

The Mama's and the Papa's - Creeque Alley
    ELP - Karn Evil 9 (1st Impression Part 2)
    Steely Dan - Dirty Work
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Kiss - Rock and Roll All Nite
    Metallica - Enter Sandman
    Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song
    4 Non Blondes - What's Up
    Counting Crowes - Mr. Jones
Dave Matthews Band - What Would You Say
Weezer - Say It Ain't So
The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You
    Oasis - Wonderwall
    Blur - Song 2
    The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
    Supergrass - Alright

Some sacred cows mixed in with a little 90's nonsense and pretty much anything Brit-Pop.

It'd probably be a better thread if people who like said bands listed alternative songs to the solitary songs others like but that's kinda being done when the same bands get mentioned with multiple songs....
