Really? Elliman's got at least another classic, also written by Robin and Barry Gibb -- "Love Me".

I really hate every bit that I’ve heard of Marilyn Manson’s output...except for their cover of Gary Numan’s “Down in the Park,” which is incredible.

Interesting... and he didn't even write it.

I never cared for him either, which is sacrilege in Indiana. "Jack and Diane" is ok--that's about it for me.

I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen... so when he sings about waking up with "the sheets soaking wet," I always thought that meant a wet dream. But later, I figured out that he was just sweating. The things one "dreams" up as a teenager...:sweating:

Years ago I got tipped off to "Feeling A Moment" by the UK band Feeder. It's almost a perfect Britpop-style single, years after I thought such things were dead. Checked out a singles comp figuring there had to be others as good, but...nothing, really. They weren't bad, just nothing stuck out to me at all, despite having some seemingly consistent under-the-radar success in the UK for decades. But this song is still great to me.

You're not alone. His songs do nothing for me. Like Springsteen without the interesting band/arrangements or interesting things to say. (As a midwestern native, I'm fairly confident in saying there's nothing interesting to write about in Indiana, sorry )

Even as a teen, I knew Bruce meant sweating, not spooging.

    You might've been a bigger perv than I - though that's hard to believe! ;) :D

Ha ha... and that's why "Jack and Diane" is his only good song, because of the line, "life goes on... long after the thrill of living is gone." Yep, that's Indiana! :agree:

It only recently occurred to me after all these years this song is a total Maggie May imitation. Is that obvious to everyone else?

Yes. IIRC, when Paul Stanley wrote it, he intended to try to get Rod Stewart to do it, but after "Beth" became a hit, Kiss kept it for themselves!

As I've said many times, I loathe Don Henley.

But "Boys of Summer" is an undeniably great song. I attribute most of its greatness to the fact that Mike Campbell co-wrote it and plays on it.

OK, I'll play. Amie by Pure Prairie League, but I don't like or dislike much else by them since I don't know it.
