I would have loved solo Keef covers album. His live version of Something Else is awesome. And he'd have a chance to tear through some Chuck Berry again.
King Crimson have been around in-and-off for 53 years now, and we have thirteen studio albums and countless live albums. However, their active years of both being together AND recording studio albums were only 1969-74, 1981-84 and 95-2003 (and even in the latter period there was a five year gap between Thrak and The ConstruKction of Light). By my reckoning that’s 35 years’ worth of studio albums we’ve missed out on.
Pete Townshend, including with The Who. You know his vaults are full of his multitrack demos, sonic experiments. It just too bad he’s felt there isn’t enough demand to be bothered. I’d have settled for more Scoops.
Joy division, the police, prince. Also I’d like for all older artists that I like to release stuff from their vaults.
I forgot Charlie Christian, changed guitar playing with a handful of sideman dates and exactly nothing as a leader.
Do you count the White Album once or twice (or Yellow Submarine at all)? Even with TWA as one, you still have the Past Masters albums as 13 & 14, plus the wealth of alternate takes, doodles, working tapes, demos, remixes and reimaginings out there. There’s now more Beatles content officially out there than ever before.
Yeah: Jellyfish Jon Brion The Grays Nick Drake The Thing Of It Is Elliott Smith The Beatles Michael Penn Some are dead and some are living…
Elton John had more albums than anybody, for a long while. Then he sold most of them off, along with some costumes.
Nirvana. Listening to "you know you're right", it's interesting to think what their 4th LP would have been like.
Good question! But Asia for me died when John Wetton left. I've heard some of the later stuff and find it interesting but not super compelling to me. Or by "reunion" do you mean the "Four Original Members Of Asia" run? That played small venues here as I recall, not much interest from the general public. As for Yes, I like their latest stuff. I don't compare it to stuff like my all-time favorite Going For The One and those. To me it's a different band that I enjoy as relaxing stuff on it's own terms, particularly The Quest in 5.1. It's kinda like Marillion-I lost interest after Fish, but in recent years have gotten to like some of the Hogarth material quite a bit, again just thinking of it as a different band with the same name. As to who I wish had put out more albums: - The original Todd Rundgren's Utopia style. "The Ikon" 30:22 holy moly! - The Michael Schenker Group lineups with Gary Barden and with Graham Bonnet - Likewise Rainbow with Graham Bonnet (and of course with Ronnie James Dio!) - Black Sabbath! I find all of their stuff interesting with whatever singer. - The Eagles, who don't really have a ton of albums. - ABBA! - Soundgarden - King Crimson's original run (I admire the stuff later on but don't get into it much). - Ambrosia I was going to say another album in the style of John Mayall's so-unique and wonderful The Turning Point but on reflecting, I wonder if (in its expanded edition) it is best just as unique. I also like a number of Poco albums, but wish there was a second from the Legend lineup. That album to me is just well above any of their other stuff.
