This is a documentary using historical footage, etc. plus the DVD includes an excellent print of his silent film, Headin' Home.

Check your local Dollar Tree before you go to Amazon since at Dollar Tree, the disc is $1. Before one watches the William Bendix film, this is what one should watch.

 

Nice tip, Brad. Thanks. I was obsessed with the Babe as a kid. Even taught myself to bat left handed since he was a lefty. I still have my copy of his autobiography which I got as a Christmas present when I was nine. I’ll be looking for this,

In other words, you would seek out the Questar DVD being that it is the real deal.

 

John Goodman, who is usually excellent, played a fat, caricature of Babe. It might have been the worst performance of his career. Now if you want to explore even more really bad baseball biopics, try "The Pride of St. Louis" (Dizzy Dean).

While The Jackie Robinson Story from 1950 is a must watch just to see Jackie play himself and actually play the game.

The DVDs to get are either the Digiview $1 store DVD if you come across it at a thrift store, the MGM DVD or the Legend Films DVD.
