This is one of the new releases on Another Timbre - I've been playing them in order of the at number - this is at182 and a very good one it is too. When it began I thought I'd heard it before - the website reminded me that it was played at the Wigmore Hall in January 2021 without an audience - it was streamed. Morton Feldman ‘Piano and String Quartet’ (1985) Mark Knoop (piano) Mira Benjamin & Gordon Mackay (violins) Bridget Carey (viola) Anton Lukoszevieze (cello)
Cerc, by Artús (rock-in-opposition, full-length, physical CD & 2LP set available, released March 27, 2020, Pau, France) Favourite track: Albedo
Toufoulcan, by Chafouin (rock-in-opposition, full-length, physical CD available, releases September 15, 2021, Caen, France) Favourite track: Les fous
This and Phew's 'New Decade' are neck and neck for album of the year IMHO. Both addictively re-playable.
Mallet Fantastique, by Tom Collier (avant-jazz, full-length, physical CD available, released November 9, 2021, Seattle, Washington) Favourite track: Cross Bars
WALTER ZUBER ARMSTRONG | ALPHA & OMEGA | WORLD ARTISTS | 1973 | FIRST CANADIAN STEREO PRESSING WA_1001 LP Impressive Free and Spiritual Jazz LP that hasn't piqued interest of the "general population" yet, though it has all the ingredients to become one of those famous LPs nobody noticed at first and then shelled out hundreds of dollars to get a halfway decent copy. It is my first LP by Armstrong and what he does on it, especially on Side 1, is very impressive. There is a clip on YT you will find below the post, representing the more accessible Side 2 of this LP. What's irritating is that this pressing is supposed to be from the US (Discogs), but the label and cover clearly state having been manufactured in Canada. The same is true for the supposedly later pressing with alternative cover. Anyway, I always liked the cover shown here much more, no matter if first or second version - and I am very glad I could get a copy.
