Joey's 'This Way Up' is absolutely fantastic! I would say it has to be considered as one of the best albums put out between 2000-2010 ! Great rock album !
It took me many years to find one UK copy of "No Dice" for an acceptable price, at at shop a few minutes from where I work. They also had the mintest UK "Magic Christian Music" album I have ever seen, and those UK albums were sold at a lesser price than their US counterparts in the same shop! The guy must have been thinking that the US versions were rare and the UK ones less desirable... And as strange as it may seem, I managed to get a near mint German pressing of the "Maybe Tomorrow" album before I got a UK "No Dice"!
Just made my special Badfinger/Iveys playlist for my trip to Florida. Included material from ALL their albums, plus BBC material and Iveys demos from the late 60's. I truly love this stuff. Included a ton of bonus trax from 2010 remasters....most of it top notch. Gotta love Badfinger!!! Ron
I don't think there are any sub-par albums by Badfinger. I always find myself reaching for any album at any given time. Oh, and my favorite Badfinger tune is "Shine On".
The Iveys stuff has known lineage. From what I heard on another board, those bonus tracks have been sitting for years and have been the subject of much negotiation. The publication of the book brought everything to a halt. I believe that time finally wore down both sides, IMO. The promise of money coming in (and that the amounts will lessen every day as less people care) brought both sides to their senses.
April 7, 1972 (Friday) Cowtown Ballroom Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A. Better Days Midnight Sun Sometimes Sweet Tuesday Morning We're For The Dark Feelin' Alright Take It All Suitcase Day After Day No Matter What ending cuts Love Me Do/Lucille/Rip It Up/Long Tall Sally ==most of this is missing encores: I Can't Take It Only You Know And I Know someone here said Apple rejected this, which I did not know!! It sounds great. So if that is true, no reason to doubt it, then this show will forever circulate among traders only, which is a shame.
Not just MP3 sound, it's not a very good source. It's arguably a semi-interesting historical document, but I can see why Apple would have rejected it.
To each his own. I think it sounds absolutely fabulous, the best live Badfinger I've ever heard bar none
I'll just put this here. The '73 tracks in particular are far superior to that Kansas City recording.
to each his own, I think it's pretty average. I also don't like the 73 tour, I'd take an earlier show anyday.
