Whoa, I had no idea that was a band member pictured on the cover (I just looked up that it is Doug.)

Not for me it doesn’t. It’s a David Bowie album. End of.

  11. It's an album by a solo artist named David Bowie. The title of the album is a fictitious name of a group.

Nice - with the fairly rare gold leaf in the name.

Always looked like Phil Alvin to me, unless you know different.

And if featuring an actual photo of just one member and cartoons of the others counts:

Bowie performed Ziggy as part of a band. For example the inner sleeve features photos of the band. Do Low, Scary Monsters, Heroes etc feature any emphasis on a band concept? No. Ziggy was a band concept and as such qualifies for this thread.

That's a pig! Unless it's Nick Mason's ear and nobody told me...

I wouldn't. No album was ever credited officially to "David Bowie and the Spiders of Mars". It's a solo album from a solo artist...

    It's Dave Gilmour's ear.

I would count very few "Solo Artist and the Band" entries.

With only a few exceptions, those are really solo artists with consistent backing bands.

They're usually not "regular bands" in that they'd really the province of the named artist.

If this thread branches into "Solo Artist and the Band", then we'll get scores of entries...

Often said to be a pig's ear, but you're right, I was too hasty in replying and forgot that it is indeed a human ear. I didn't know it was Gilmour's though. I thought it was an anonymous ear.
