According to this site:http://www.msnbc.com/news/941838.asp?0dm=L19TL The same team behind the excellent HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers" will start work on a ten part mini-series surrounding the combat in the Pacific.
I totally agree. Saving Private Ryan is a great film, but this mini-series is easily the best WWII movie/television program ever.
One more recommendation, if you go for this set on eBay - make sure it comes in a tin box. There seems to be some cheap knockoffs from China floating around. The original comes in a tin box, and should be in the description (at least from my experience).
The DVD is great (so was the series). It is one of the few DVD's where the extra material (especially the maps) is worthwhile. I agree with the other comments, be sure you get the real thing. Cannot wait for the second one, my father was in the Pacific during the war.
Tin box I got mine as a gift and love it. I have seen it in the eighty dollar ballpark at Target. Really good job they did on that one Peace- Norm
The one I saw is from Criterion, which is supposed to be the "audiophile" version of DVDs. Did that make sense?
Gary, No Criterion does not make sense. You want the official HBO version, the best price I can find on it right now is at overstock.com (if they have something they are usually the cheapest) at $70 US.
YES YES YES and YES! Great series! It has a lot of "rewatchability". eBay has it cheaper than the store. One guy sells it for around $60 new unopened. Heck of a deal.
That would be cool, I really like the first one, can't get my girlfreind to watch it though. If anybody has any ideas on how I can trick her into watching it....... You can pick it up at Costco for 72 bucks (best price that I've seen.).
