My GFs stereo build with my left over components is bass shy. I am using a Marantz NR1403 set in stereo mode. Pioneer PL-7 with Ortofon OM10 cartridge and a newer Teac 5 disc CD player. (She had to have multi disc 'junk'- go figure). The bass issue is the Pioneer SP-BS22 speakers I used to use on my big screen TV with a sub-woofer. They have a tiny 4 inch woofer that 'collapses' on somewhat loud music. No room for a sub-woofer, so not exceeding 10" wide x 18 tall, what would make more bass for about $300 in that size? GF does not have great hearing so with more bass the system will work for her.

Elac B6.2 is $209 and the Wharfedale $229. Which is the better deal?

The 225 was originally $450, the other $300, so the 225 wins the math part.

I have 225s in a 12x13' room, driven by a 50 wpc NAD. On Stereophile CD test tones, they have strong output at 40HZ and good output at 32. (I'm quite fond of them.)

For something with a bit higher sensitivity, the Polk S20 is $220 (6.5" woofer.) There's a Zero Fidelity review of the S 15 on YouTube. You might watch that and see if that basic description seems like something she'd like. Plenty of high end "detail", but apparently not ear rippers like some Polks.

If you were to go to Tharbamar's channel on youtube , you could put on some headphones and play demos of the 225, 6.2 and Polk S15. (Play the "rock" demo.)

Try a Schiit Loki equalizer to enhance your sound (bass) first, before spending money on new speakers or components.

    Well, no, because
Just needs more "WOOF" capability, i.e. 6.5" minimum. Bass requires moving air, it's physics, no shortcuts. These are $249/pair
Monoprice 8in Powered Studio Multimedia Monitor Speakers (pair) - Monoprice.com
have an 8" woofer and are even powered...10.1" wide-is that too much?
    A different idea:
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-160M (Ebony) Bookshelf speakers at Crutchfield
They also carry the ELAC, which have a power-hungry reputation but gain lots of low bass in consequence.

A friend brought his Q150s over to my house. We ran them against a few other speakers, including my Revel M22s. He got them used, exceptional for the money he paid. On sale now for $299.
