Did they even play it in '68? Might have to wait for '69 for that one.

  4. The live '67 set wasn't cheap, worried about how much this one will be.

Not played live by The Beach Boys until '69.

The thing that makes the summer '68 concerts stand apart is the fact that they used a big band - like a Doc Severinson-style big band. Not quite sure why they chose to go in that direction, but they did.

I just hope that they track the Live in London stuff so that Mike's banter isn't at the beginning of each cut. That drives me nuts on the official release.

The setlists on the U.S. shows don't seem too inspired apart from the few Friends cuts. I was kind of hoping for an unexpected "Anna Lee" or something. Is anyone familiar with these specific performances apart from the London ones (which I'm looking forward to)?

Maybe this is Mike Love stage banter.

Yeah. I’ve mentioned it before: a simple change from electronic to organic percussion and the removal of “Summer of Love” would make it a darn good BB record.

How much of this live release do you think will be in stereo?

Does everyone here have the sense that they are literally emptying the vaults, year by year, now? I assume so and am assuming that whatever they've got, we will get to hear over time. And, with the Beach Boys, even the "bottom of the barrel" contains some great stuff.

I remember enjoying a version of "Our Prayer" where it sounds like they're all about to break into laughter on the last "Mmmmmm". Am I remembering right?

Judging by the track lengths, your hope is in Live In London banter being the 2nd show's and Mike having better banter for the 1st.

Astoria's "All I Want to Do" was the finale for both shows is still only on the Rarities LP as far as I know, edited to 1:39 for some pressings.

    I'm thinking $56.99 at itunes.

    Dates from setlists.fm
July 5 - Chicago, Illinois - Auditorium Theatre
July 8 - Fargo, North Dakota - Civic Auditorium (2 shows)
July 10 - Waterloo, Iowa - McElroy Auditorium
July 13 - Lincoln, Nebraska - Pershing Center
July 16 - Phoenix, Arizona - Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Dec. 1 - London, England - London Palladium (2 shows)
Dec. 8 - London, England - Finsbury Park Astoria (2 shows)

Yep, for the next 8 to 9 years we are going to get some sweet barrel scrapings. WE know what's been bootlegged and how good that is. Who knows what else is hidden in the vaults?

And Who knows maybe there is great stuff from beyond the 80s, though I tend to think there isn't much until the 90s.

I'm still excited about this set. The great years were still ahead of them, but I've always felt the Live in London album was a great little show. I'm looking forward to hearing a lot of this stuff with the horn section.

Bring on the white suits, ascots, Mike's prayer robe and sweet, sweet beard.

That's from the '68 overdubs added to the '66 recording of "Our Prayer".

Nope, that performance of "Rock And Roll Woman" is from Europe '69. The song showed up on many of their setlists that year.

This! And the American Band documentary got that period wrong...they didn’t visit Czechoslovakia in 1968 either.
