*I'm not starting this thread to start a fight about who's better. If you're looking for that, I refer you to the "Who was more popular in the US?" thread.

It dawned on me today how Get Back really sounds like something the Stones would do, with the chugging rhythm and riffing guitars, even the soloing style (to my non-guitarist ears). What are some other Beatles songs that sound like The Stones?

I ALWAYS thought Get Back sounded like the Stones. It's got a sort of slurred swagger that just reeks of Mick 'n' Keef.

Title edited for clarification. I don't mean songs that sound just like The Stones, but just close to something they'd do.

Really? I feel like there has to be more. I didn't notice Get Back 'til today, so I'm just trying to see if anyone noticed any others.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but why do there have to be more? These two bands have their own distinctive sound, and I don't think any Beatles song sounds like something the Stones would do.

    YMMV.

I always thought "What Goes On" and "Doctor Robert" could have been Stones songs.

    But not "Get Back."

I think the Stones could have covered "Run For Your Life" and made it their own.

Reverse things and the Beatles could have done Connection.

Two completely different bands with two completely different sounds.

You really don't hear any Stones in Get Back? Imagine Keith and Mick T. playing those guitar parts. I can totally see it.

'I got a feeling' would have been a great Stones tune.

The Beatles never really sounded like The Stones, but there are maybe Beatles songs it's possible to imagine being written by The Stones, and The Stones performing them.

I remember when the song was first released on 45 and I heard it on the radio.
I didn't really know who it was until the DJ said it was the Beatles with some guy named Billy Preston (whom I assumed to be a country music/Nashville musician for some bizarre reason.) I never thought to myself, hey - that song sounds like the Rolling Stones. Sure it has a different and grittier guitar sound than what had been on a Beatles song before, but it didn't (and doesn't) remind me of Keith or Taylor. Could I imagine the Stones playing Get Back and making it their own - sure, but it would sound very different. Just like IWBYM sounded like a completely different song when the Stones did it. I prefer the Stones version, as I am not a fan of Ringo's booming baritone.

Those are all good choices. I would also pick Hey Bulldog, Everybody's Got Something to Hide and all the songs listed above.

I agree on "I Feel Fine," "What Goes On" and "Dr . Robert." And I would add to my previous list:

    I Saw Her Standing There
    I'll Cry Instead

I think a lot of the early songs fall into this category, such as Money, You Can't Do That, Roll Over Beethoven, I Saw Her Standing There, Everybody's Trying to be My Baby, Don't Bother Me, Twist and Shout, Boys, Matchbox, Slow Down, etc. Both bands had that hard r&b sound in their early days.
