I've hit two more area BB's while out and about yesterday & today. The Animals - Best of (single LP) - $6.49 Beatles - Rubber Soul $9.49 Beatles - Sgt Pepper $12.99 Beatles - 1's $17.99 Brandi Carlisle - In These Silent Days $13.99 Johnny Cash - Essential $10.99 Lana Del Ray - Born to Die $10.99 Bob Dylan - Essential $9.49 Marvin Gaye - Live in Montreux 1980 $9.49 Al Green - Greatest Hits $7.99 Green Day - Insomniac $10.99 Green Day - Greatest Hits: God's Favorite Band $9.49 John Prine - For Better or Worse $9.99 John Prine - Tree of Forgiveness $10.99 Radiohead - Kid A Mnesia $21.99 RHCP - Unlimited Love $12.99 Rolling Stones - Honk $14.99
Ended up finding a stack of records at mine. Of what I brought to the register, only Let it Be and In the Court of the Crimson King were discounted, but $17 for two records is a nice cop in this market so hooray.
Trying to add a few more prices to what I scored today (I blew off work and drove to a few rural BB's). Sorry if some of these have already been posted. Before posting what I bought, here is a note. The online inventory does not always match the in store. I would say it was about 3/4 correct that I could find the item in store (as was listed as available). On this note, some stuff isn't even listed online and yet is in store...some on clearance (I was also able to score Radiohead Kid A Mnesia for $21.99!) and some not (Black Sabbath Vol. 4 Super Deluxe box set). Sabbath Vol 4 isn't even listed for the regular LP, let alone the box. I also had an odd experience where the 'main' vinyl section (which at my BB's usually is near the TV's) had limited stock and I was kind of bummed...then when I went to checkout, there was a full rack of vinyl (2 rows by 3 columns) with probably 50 additional items right next to the candy, soda, etc. So odd but that is where I found a bunch of good stuff (including Ministry Moral Hygiene which I paid full price for because Uncle Al rules...ha). I have never seen records at the checkout and have now been to 4 BB's. But take a peek, there may be some over there. My scores (minimal duplicated I hope): Jimi Hendrix - Experience Hendrix $8.49 Floyd - Piper Gates of Dawn Mono Mix - $9.99 Slash 4 (BB exclusive) - $9.49 Bowie - ChangesOne - $13.99 Metallica - Black Album - $10.99 Springsteen - Born to Run - $8.49 Judas Priest - Reflections 2lp $14.99 I also grabbed Who Sell Out, Petty Angel Dream, Beatles LiB & Rubber Soul and a few others but I think those were posted. Not to cross threads (but I kind of did that last time on the Target thread) but I am finding damn near nothing on clearance at Target. I have now been to 5 and none of the ones I want (Ghost, Animals, etc) are on clearance. So odd. At least BB and Target are usually near each other. I may do another run further south tomorrow as I have to go into Denver and will let all know what I find there.
Another one that different stores are pricing differently, because my local store had it as full price.
I don't think I scored anything not posted so far but I do notice some price differences. Anyway, my haul from 2 BBs Hendrix, R U Experienced, $5.99 (2014, not the 2010 gatefold BUT all AAA) King Crimson, ITCOTCK, $7.49 Police, Greatest, 1/2 speed mastered, $26.99 Pink Floyd, DSOTM, $10.99 Bob Dylan, Essential, $$10.99 Springsteen, Born With The Runs, $8.49 Winehouse, Live At Glastonbury, $14.99 Beatles, Abbey Road, $9.49 Beatles, Rubber Soul, $9.49 David Gray, best of, $11.99 CCR, Chronicle, $10.99 A little over $130 (w/tax) for 11 solid albums with many of them 2LPs. I love these sales!
I had the same experience. I probably have 2 copies already but saw someone post $5.49 (I think and figured it was worth a shot). I see @shnaggletooth had a different price on Black Keys and now we see Hendrix Electric Ladyland have this issue. Seems pretty consistent besides these two...unlike Target where some people are getting awesome clearance items and as I have mentioned, I am getting almost nothing.
I hit up a Best Buy on the way home from work. Found The Cars GH for $11.99 which is exactly what I was looking for. Also nabbed Rubber Soul for $9.49 and Pepper for $12.99 which will be the only Beatles I have on vinyl. The surprise find was a bin of vinyl near the checkout (as mentioned above) where there was a pristine copy of Dark Side of the Moon facing me and demanding that I purchase. I of course obliged, that one was $10.99. Out the door for less than $49.00. Was thwarted though by Darkness On The Edge Of Town which rang at full price.
Two stores visited, got the following: Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Greatest Hits (2LP) $11.99 Albert Collins - Cold Snap (Blue vinyl) $8.99 Eagles - Live at the Forum '76 $11.99 Sly and the Family Stone - There's A Riot Going On $8.99 Bob Dylan - Essential $10.99 Only went to two stores. Trying not to get to carried away with this sale.
Out of curiousity, you posted the that you purchased some of these same titles at Target also, in the other thread, for the exact same prices. (your "Born with the Runs" comment triggered my memory). Did you really find them at different chains for the exact same prices and buy multiple copies?
I went yesterday and had no luck. Records were picked over. Almost nothing left, and a third of the remainder were opened / returned items. Springsteen and the White Album box.

No, the post on the Target thread was a big brain fart on my part and when I realized my mistake, it was too late to delete
Checked out another Best Buy. There was a copy of Prince - Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic, but like Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union, not in their system. A mistake that it was even their store, so they couldn't sell it.
Beatles 1 has been reported as being on sale by several members, but at two different prices. Definitely lots of folks finding it on sale though.
Yeah, I guess it was on sale. It was 27. 99 or something like that. Not cheap enough that it seemed like a hot deal of any sort.
A few from my haul that I don't think I've seen listed yet: Eric Clapton S/T - $11.99 Kiss - Rock & Roll Over - $9.49 Guardians of the Galaxy Picture Disc - $7.49 There were a good number of noes, but the only ones I remember that I don't think are listed were Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse... and the Stones -Between the Buttons. Revolver was not on clearance at either of the stores I went to, but the other Beatles titles were. I have to give a nod to the great service I got too. Not only did I find an associate very willing to scan my pile of albums at both stores, both were totally in the game with me. They were pumping fists and cheering each time a title turned out to be on clearance, and both encouraged me to go back and check more. Honestly, the most fun I've had record shopping in a regular store in ages. I was also impressed by the breadth of titles they had, both clearance and non-clearance, far better than the other big box stores near me.
