Hi. I bought some hires albums at 24/192 but I realize using my Metric Halo ULN-2 or my software (JRiver) to resample to 24/96 in real time may not be the best practice. Any advice on a good software to resample? I am not a pro, so I would prefer not spending hundreds of bucks for just a dozen albums!
SoX. command line utility. sox.exe −G hires.flac outfile.flac rate 96000 Substitute 48000 and hear no difference.
If you need to spend some money, you can also get iZotope RX which IMO is best in class. High quality resampling in software is trivial these days whether through SoX, Foobar, or commercial software like JRiver and dBPowerAmp. Would be very surprised if one could hear a difference between them!
It does what you tell it to do. If I'm using my vintage Adcom DAC, I set it up to 44.1/48khz for 96/192 files. You can upsample as well.
It's supposed to automatically reduce file gain if clipping is detected (which can happen from any filtering), but doesn't always seem to work as magically as one would hope.
Have you tried Tascam’s Hi-Res Editor? It’s free and simple to use. I’ve used it on DSD/PCM files with no issue. TASCAM Hi-Res Editor | OVERVIEW | TASCAM - United States
