Yep, I was glad to see Steve Hackett doing well and in Germany he made it to #14 even! Lonely Are the Brave are definitely one of those bands one might notice going through the charts like this which we might not otherwise single out. They are also another one of those bands whose first album was pretty recent (2014) and which charted very well in the UK too (#14).

Always found W.E.T. to be slightly disappointing. Such a pedigree yet somehow they contrive to be less than the sum of their parts. It's all relative though. I'd still be happy if they were a staple of radio, as opposed to what we usually get. :)

I noticed Lonely Are The Brave are British. Just based on that one song, on the off-chance that we ever get live music again, I'd certainly go and see them if they played near me.

My sentiments exactly. I much prefer other things from Soto and Eclipse. This is fairly generic all things considered but I wish that were the biggest problem with the current music scene(s).

Caught my eye, too. Here's the chart excerpt, but after 15 minutes of various searches for any explanation over the past few months, I can find none. One would reasonably expect that this phenomenon correlates with some sort of contemporary announcement, commercial campaign, or pop culture tie-in (i.e., promoted in a recent television show, radio programme, podcast, et al.), but my searches are probably missing Polish language sources that would provide an answer (which wouldn't help me anyway!). Where are our resident Poles? Help! Inquiring minds want to know.

I love Poland. It's a wonderful place and it's residents are charming and friendly but it's wacky enough for an anomaly like this to happen. They love their metal over there so all it would take would be Metallica appearing on a popular TV show and boom! They are back all over the charts.

Curiously, about ten years or so ago the same thing happened to AC/DC in the UK. All of a sudden, and for no reason I could ever work out, they suddenly had a bunch of singles in the upper reaches of the the charts.

Sometimes this will also happen when albums are released to various streaming services as happened with Tool not too long ago as well.

The new Therion tunes you've posted have been very enjoyable. Just sent for the new album. Creye sond promising too.

Conversely, The Dead Daisies look to have run their race, at least for me. It's been a case of diminishing returns for a while but the new stuff really isn't to my taste.

Glad you liked them Creye and Theron. I was never a big fan of Dead Daisies though I very much respect Doug Aldrich and Glenn Hughes. Still, as with other things, it's a luxury problem in today's environment :)

Gotta love a band called Van Gogh's Ear. Good song too.

Just looked them up. Eight album releases, eight Spanish chart toppers. That's quite a run! Seemingly popular with Spanish speakers in North America too.

Oh yea La Oreja de Van Gogh are a huge band not only in Spain (with 11 albums at #1 including lives and compilations) but also in the Americas.

In addition to topping the US Latin charts, they had 5 albums go #1 in Colombia and Chile with another 4 going #1 in Argentina and Mexico. They even had 12 singles go #1 in Spain and 8 singles go #1 in Mexico. Unfortunately chart coverage is spotty in Latin America so it's hard to get a full picture but they are very, very popular.

Were you also familiar with Heroes del Silencio and Bunbury? They are a huge band/solo act you might want to investigate.

I've heard a few tracks by Bunbury, possibly in the previous incarnation of this thread but I hadn't made the connection that he was the frontman for Heroes Del Silencio. I remember them from a couple of decades ago. Have they reformed or is it new life for old records?

Bunbury was the lead vocalist for Heroes del Silencio (new life for the their albums). His newer stuff is perennially on the charts in Spain and very popular elsewhere too.
