For those who know the movie, there's a section of music that's playing during when Smokey, the Native American gets caught by going "over the line" while bowling. Ironically, Walter steps over the line and takes out a 9MM (I think). "Mark it zero!" Is ths Capt. Beefheart, and what song is it?
I don't know. I don't know what it is! There *is* Beefheart in the film -- almost inaudible -- in the very next scene, though; where the Dude fixes a White Russian and gets a visit from his landlord. ("Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles").
I did some more sleuthing, Sckott, and apparently this song is "I Hate You" by the Monks. I've never heard of it myself.
Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...f=sr_1_6/104-4576700-0633511?v=glance&s=music The Monks - Black Monk Time. Early garage band from Germany. Decade before Sex Pistols as well.... Neat! Review: Drum goes PUM. Amplified banjo goes JNK. PUM JNK PUM JNK PUM JNK. Aaaaaaaaah! It's BLACK MONK TIME all DAY and all NIGHT. Neighbors disagree, so I turn up volume. Police come. I don't care. I pay fine. Police leave. BLACK MONK TIME again!
There is a song (Complication) by the Monks on the Nuggets box set. Also - BTW, Smokey in the Big Lebowski is played by Jimmy Dale Gilmore
This movie (like Some Like It Hot) gets funnier each time you see it. I've heard of people who only chuckled a bit on the first viewing, laughed on the second, but were howling and rolling on the floor by the third time. Of course, I loved it right away, and saw it three times the first week it came out! Definitely do yourself that favour. "This is a private residence, dude."
I've got a co-worker that's a dead ringer for Smokey/Gilmore... good for running jokes all the time! -Matt
Just a Cool Movie! Aimee Mann makes a Cameo appearance:!) Just love Steve Buscemi, one of my favorite character actors
The Big Lebowski is one of FEW comedies that are truly histerical. Jeff Bridges was fantastic, and of course Buscemi was, well Buscemi. pdenny, go out and rent..... or better yet, buy this DVD, it's worth every penny.
Ummm....guys, check my current sig I have seen the film more times than I should mention. I have a LEBOWSKI party at least twice a year. I invite friends over and we go into hysterics as if we had never seen it before! "Jesus." "You said it, man. Nobody f*cks with the Jesus." http://www.eng.buffalo.edu/~hulme/lebowski.html
