Big Little Lies - HBO

Have not seen any of Season 1 yet but caught the 1st 2 this season. I am liking it so far.

The difference that makes this season less compelling is we had a mystery to solve right from the start last season.
This season they are slowly building up to something so it seems like nothing is happening except great acting.

But it should be getting more exciting if what they hint at will happen.

I'd strongly recommend watching Season 1 first before diving into S.2.

Renata has become super annoying, always yelling and acting like a nut job. There is rarely any nuance to any of her lines; it's like everything is at full volume. Seems way worse this season than it was in S1.

 

agreed.......seems to be poised to play a very very large role in the remainder of the season. so many possibilities, (antagonist or protagonist?) it will be very interesting to see what direction they go.

 

I think the Mary Louise character is definitely being set up to be the antagonist, given the combative confrontations she is already having with the main characters. It is understandable to sympathize with her on the level of her being a mother who just lost her son and who doesn't want to believe the bad stuff she is hearing about him, but we have seen what a bad guy he is, and I doubt she will become a character most will like given the trouble she is likely to cause for the real victims here (Celeste & Jane) and the others. And the "let's blame the victim" verbal game she played with Jane was tough to watch.

 

Streep’s character has had some true LOL lines. On the most recent one, someone asks her about moving into Jane’s building, suggesting it’s inappropriate. And she responds “Where would you have me go - Canada?”

Having had a stepmother that was just as wackily self-centered and dramatic as that, I roared with laughter at that line.

 

Still haven't started watching. I'm waiting for it to finish so that I can binge...

 

Streep is the star of the season so far in my opinion.

 

She certainly brings a lot to the party.

 

She's putting the puzzle together, slowly but surely .

 

Got to say the 45 minute show time flies by quickly but it remains a real chick fest. My wife and daughter like it so I sit and watch.

 

I like chick flicks, and my wife and I are equally hooked on this show .

 

I wouldn't categorize this as a chick flick. If it was I wouldn't like it, therefore it's not.

 

It was a murder mystery until it wasn't.

 

Is she going to accidentally fall down a flight of stairs?

 

Ha - like mother like son..

 

I think its the other way round. I suspect she is going to kill off one of the main characters, probably Zoe Kravitz.

 

oh, if the rumors of no season 3 are true, i believe more than one person will meet their demise in this series.

6- The Bad Mother
7- I Want to Know

End of season.

 

Hard to say definitively, but I’d bet this is the last season for this.

 

what's the budget like for this anyway? with that cast they can't possibly sustain, can they?

 

My wife loves it.

Doesn't appeal to me.
