I have a couple of first/early Riverside pressings and the sound has never been exceptional.

Has anyone ever compared Bill Evans original Riverside pressings to the mid/late '60's Orpheum/Riverside pressings? Not sure if later generation tapes were used and vinyl/pressing quality of the Orpheums vs the originals.

    Thanks!

It’s been over six months since the query above. Well, I’d like to know too.

NJC: Much better on the exceptionally rare 1st pressing with white label.
WFD: No great difference at all. Maybe better vinyl used for the Orpheum.

Edit: No, as for NJC, my memory was confused. I think I’ve compared the later blue label edition with the first pressing.

I have a WFD , Orpheum 12-9399 A/B version ...1966? It is a very good recording of a live performance complete with the coughing and silverware clinking, except for some ticks that arise due to a rash assumed from inner sleeve interaction with the vinyl during storage for a long period of time. Apparently, the first pressing commands significantly more in value but I wasn’t sure if quality was the issue.
