Bonamassa is a prime example of how I wish bands would do live videos. Hopefully this is good news for BCC
after further inspection on youtube; one guy with a camera and a "caveman productions" t-shirt is visible in the front. A camera is also stationed on the left side of the stage. hopefully there are more, but not easily visible on these youtube clips. However - it appears to be a sparse production in terms of angles!!
Has anyone heard the vinyl-only track, With You I Go? How does it compare to the rest of the material on IV?
Having listened to this a few times I've come to the conclusion that, to my ears anyway, the mastering (CD) isn't actually that bad. The tracks have heft and aren't fatiguing. I like the tune with the fiddle, "Last Song For My Resting Place."
The mastering is not great but i agree, "It ain't all that bad". I can live with the cd sound. I've heard worst sounding cd's than this release
I've had IV on high rotation over the past few weeks and as much as I like BCC's previous releases, IV is feeling like the band's best work. Hopefully we wont have to wait another 5 years for the next album.
Not really, that band never did anything for me. so I wonder what ever happened to Glenns 2nd leg American tour of playing DP songs ?
I’m assume the dates below are the first leg. A second leg could happen early next year, as J. Bo has dates in the US throughout Feb/March. August 25th NYCB Theatre - Westbury, New York, USA 26th Space Ballroom - Hamden, Connecticut, USA 28th The Stone Pony - Asbury Park, New Jersey, USA 29th Sony Hall - New York, New York, USA 31st The Queen - Wilmington, September 1st Chameleon Club - Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA 4th Rams Head On Stage - Annapolis, Maryland, USA 5th Jergels - Warrendale, Pennsylvania, USA 7th The Keswick Theatre - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA 8th Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA 11th The Chance Theater - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA 13th Arcada Theatre - Saint Charles, Illinois, USA 15th The Token Lounge - Westland, Michigan, USA 16th House of Blues - Cleveland, Ohio, USA 18th Tupelo Music Hall - Derry, New Hampshire, USA 19th The Wilbur - Boston, Massachusetts, USA 21st Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel - Providence, Rhode Island, USA 22nd Tarrytown Music Hall - Tarrytown, New York, USA
Wow, interesting he is playing the Keswick. That is a big step up for him over here. Last time he played here was in Sellersville which seats only 300. I think the Keswick is about 5 times larger capacity-wise. I guess the Deep Purple angle was more attractive to the promoters sales/recognition wise. I had tix for the Sellersville show but sadly missed it, was too wiped out from work to go.
Hey who is in Glenn's band for this tour? Is it still Soren Anderson on guitar? I really wanted to talk to him at the Sellersville show about a year ago but couldn't make the gig....
I think Soren Anderson is on guitar. Lachy Doley (keys) who plays on the clip above is definitely not still in the band.
If that got a professional release I'd buy it (I actually prefer just getting a CD version but I can always just play the DVD).
Glenn said that somewhere that an upcoming date, probably in America, would be filmed. Fingers crossed for something at least - a pristine production of Glenn doing Purple - YES PLEASE
Interesting, I will be seeing Glenn Hughes in a couple of weeks live. But I have to say, Joe's guitar part in this version left me a bit cold. Of course, technically much better than Blackmore these days, but I rather listen to one of the Rainbow live versions from 2016 or 2017 and the "limited" guitar playing by Ritchie than this version. Ritchie just has a uniqueness in his tone/style...
Just like with Ritchie and his recent Rainbow reunion... I like Joe Bonamassa overall, but I usually prefer when he plays his original material. Really like his latest record.
