Let's say you hosted a Blue Note hour at a local jazz radio station. What do you play the first show?

Here's how I might start it

    - Shorter - Speak No Evil (gotta start it off right)
    - Herbie - Oliloqui Valley
    - Henderson - Punjab
    - Moncur - Air Raid
    - Green - Minor League
    - Hutcherson - Rojo
    - Turrentine - But Not For Me - Up at Minton's
    - Dorham - Autumn in New York - Cafe Bohemia
    - Burrell - Chitlins

Id mix it up and play ...

Kind Of Blue (starting with side 2)

Maybe then Id dig deep and play
    some cover bands doing..

    Kind Of Blue

    At midnight Id play..

    Kind Of Blue..backwards

    then end with..

Lonson I'm in the kitchen with the Tombstone Blues

I'd be sure to include tracks by Art Hodes, Sidney Bechet, Edmond Hall, Howard McGhee and Theloniouc Monk.

How long a show is this? The trick would be to stricke a balance between things that are prototypically Blue Note and representing the breadth of the label throughout it's now 80+ year history.

However long you want! Or maybe an hour long :) What would you play to represent the label's breadth?

Let's say it's a Blue Note album that for some mysterious reason happened to be released by Columbia :D
