Why wouldn’t they have just added a disc to the latest Bootleg series and put the Johnny Cash sessions on there (and bd able to charge more with it being a 4 disc set now)

They think people want curated sets. Not those pesky multiple takes.

If they added all this material on as a fourth disc I would've enjoyed the last set even more.

I happen to think curated sets are much more enjoyable for repeated listenings, but, for artists I like, the more the merrier.

...right! My thoughts exactly. It’s a good & enjoyable listen, but I was looking for more of these alternate takes..oh well. Can’t have everything you want exactly how you want it all the time. Anyone like Band of Gypsys? :D

Don't worry. The unofficial bootleggers will buy it and clone it
and put it on sale by Monday. You'll see.

Wouldn't it be considerate of Badlands to list the quantity --
and the price like they do for everything else?

There are probably only 300 copies or thereabouts, if the prior
copyright protection releases are an indication.

It will probably be very expensive. Have at least $200 -- £300
    ready in your account.

I hasten to add, I will be very happy to be proven wrong.

I have to get up at 3am for work anyway, might as well attempt to get this. I get nervous about buying from new, unknown sites though. Although I guess a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met.

Whatever happened to 1968? I wonder why they decided John Wesley Harding wasn't worth a copyright collection like this, but Nashville Skyline was...

I know the JWH alt takes supposedly aren't in the hands of non-Dylan people, etc, etc, but it is kind of irritating that we just got a small taste on BS15... which was far and away the best part of the set, as much as I'm concerned, anyway. I really can't see the remaining JWH outtakes being used on any future releases, so I really do wish they would have just quietly shoved them out there on one of these CD dumps or something. I think it's doubly obnoxious that the Cash stuff is getting more and more put out while JWH is left to linger in the vault, even though I know the purpose of these copyright releases isn't to shine a light on quality stuff. I don't want to have to fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma just to hear the remaining takes of As I Went Out One Morning.

I’m not familiar with this track... has it been long sought after?

Yes, but I suspect more for the satisfaction of solving a longstanding mystery than any expectation of a particularly notable performance. It was a title we’ve long known thanks to Krogsgaard’s sessionography and it’s inclusion on a provisional track listing for the 1973 Dylan LP, but the recording itself has never circulated, nor has it even been confirmed if it’s an original or not (though it has generally been assumed to be a cover).

Ouch, Badlands charges $200-300 for these!? I would have guessed that would be ebay scalper prices.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet....it will be a reasonable price.

  24. Reading the tea leaves, I don't think Sony Legacy thought bumping the price point of Travelin' Thru: 1967-169 higher was feasible without sales cratering. It doesn't appear they had a lot of faith in this material's sales potential.

Labels don't leave money on the table lightly. They maximize revenue for any given release. That is why I think they "curated" these sessions. They wanted to hit a certain price point that was low enough for most Dylan collectors.

Wouldn’t pay for this one - 7 versions of “I Still Miss Someone” and two versions of “Matchbox”? No thanks. It’s an average release at best.
