Is this the original stereo mix?

This new 45rpm LP set of "Freewheelin'" from MFSL is a serious contender for analog reissue of the year, IMO. Very, very good. Pressings are just about perfect, too. I'm not sure I've ever heard this album sound this good and I've got many copies dating back to the original mono and stereo pressings. A complete success for Mofi.

Yeah, as I said in another Dylan thread, I might have to triple dip for these new reissues.

    You guys sold me. :D

I've got an original two-eye mono and the Sundazed mono, but no stereo LP of Freewheelin': sounds like this one is a winner. Just ordered it.

Game, set and match. This set is unbelievable. You haven't heard Dylan until you hear this.

my issue is as a 45rpm. flipping the sides too much, although a couple sides seem to be 12 minutes ..... but is it really that much better then the single disk vinyls?

is anyone counting how many times this has been done now?

Could someone please tell me if this title is only available on 45rpm then?

I'm about to order from amazon and want to make sure it is the double 45rpm- they don't specify in their listing...

    Thanks in advance!

As someone who has this on the Mono box, would you recommend this version? Is the stereo version a must? I am a big dylan fan, but my pockets are not so big at the moment :( I am holding out for the Blood on the Tracks MFSL

I have the mono box, IMHO its no contest. The 45 kills the mono version.

Yes, the MFSL is only a 2 x 45 RPM records. Retail price is $39.95 USD.

Thanks for the post trumpetplayer. I have the mono box and was on the fence about this one but ordered yesterday. The last four new MFSL releases I have bought have all been excellent.

Disclaimer: I have not heard the MFSL Freewheelin' but I've been following this thread. To my ears the Sony SACD of Freewheelin' sounds fine, and it can be had new for about $10. But truthfully I don't see the stereo version of this as a must have if you have a nice sounding mono. The titles with a full band, yes, but the early titles no. (Just my opinion, not trying to threadcrap).

I'm sick of buying remasters of the 1960s titles! I'm holding out for an audiophile vinyl/sacd of Time Out Of Mind.

I agree with fluffskul above. Freewheelin' is one of my favorite Dylan albums, and the mono mix just seems totally correct to me. The stereo is kind of a distraction on the early guitar/harmonica albums. I've talked myself out of spending $39 on this, but I am glad MFSL is doing the Dylan albums.
