Had a listen to "Thin Man" which rarely interests me these days live, but the Denver video had me pretty riveted, I have to say:

Is that a bust of an early Roman king in front of the piano?

    Alex S says:

Bob at Irvine (for Peter Stone Brown)

"Since at least 2014, the ancient motifs of Bob’s “Masterpiece” have been visually represented on the stage with the adornment of Bob’s piano by (what looks like) a reproduction of the alabaster bust of “Poesia” by the 19th Century neoclassical Italian sculptor Antonio Garella."

Where does he find the energy to keep going?

His energy level is on the rise if recent shows are a reflection of such matters.

Is there an opening act? If so, what time does Bob begin?

Can’t find a set list for Mankato. I sure hope he plays It’s All Over Now Baby Blue in Milwaukee tomorrow.

Last night in Mankato, Minnesota, during a sweet Girl From The North Country. Dylan on piano. I'm also seeing him on Saturday at the Eagle's Ballroom in Milwaukee.

You have to admire Bob for doing things his way and accepting scaling down to the theatre circuit as the price he has to pay for that. I would love to visit the alternate reality where, say, the Stones had made the same choice instead of playing Jumping Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women in stadiums for the fourth decade.

I was there too. Fantastic show. The vocal mix on the opening “Things Have Changed” seemed a bit off but sounded better by the time “It’s Ain’t Me Babe” began. “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and “Not Dark Yet” were both thrilling performances and well conceived arrangements. I must admit Dylan got pretty far into “Gotta a Serve Somebody” with me embarrassingly thinking he was playing “Cold Iron Bound” (I must have had Time Out Of Mind in my head thanks to how heavily it had been featured earlier in the show)! The only downside to the night were the very annoying concert goers around me who were far more interested in drinking & chatting than watching the show.

Bob should always be playing an upright piano, it's more "him" than a grand piano.

Hey, were those mannequins at the back of the stage, dressed in evening clothes?

Totally agree Mankato was great. It was my 4th time seeing him and I enjoyed the songs I hadn't heard before (especially Masterpiece).

He did start promptly at 8:00. I know because I was walking to the venue at 7:58 and by the time I got inside I had missed most of the first song. The venue was small enough, I chose to stand at the back rather than fumble around in the dark to sit down on those crappy folding chairs. The piano playing kind of stood out back there!

    Jesse Meehl tweeted:
“So the mannequins on stage have names: Rachel, Dave, and Fiona. I was at the show in Mankato tonight and was watching the roadies take the stage down. The mannequins had crates/cases with their names on it.”

He also included a picture, but I can’t post it from my phone right now.
