Got this playing right now. Yeah, Silvio is playing right now. What's not to like about it? Bouncy Bob, great background vocals, and it has the vibe of a band having fun. I dare say I've become acclimatized to this album now. Nothing jumps out as bad. It's only 32 minutes, so really short. Still, while it sounds a bit..... scattered..... that's part of the charm. It's got the feel of an obscure compilation album. Nice.
I chose Shenandoah as my favourite , great melody and to my ears a wonderful chapel vibe to it. A lovely arrangement of backing vocals , I think that's what conjures up the almost Baptiste imagery .
I've just had another listen to this for the first time in years and it is so much better than I remembered.
I played this yesterday. it has such a poor reputation, and the clash of styles is bizarre at times. Yet.... I just dig listening to it. Bob has done worse.
Indeed, sometimes an album becomes a victim of its reputation and never gets reevaluated. It's a short album, and seems to peek at the right times. It's never going to be Highway 61, but it can certainly pass the time enjoyably. Silvio is very good.
Same with KOL I really hope they do a Bootleg Series release that includes some cuts from 1987-1988. Even if it's just a disc on an Oh Mercy or UTRS -themed release.
Love this album. I voted for 90 miles an hour. I had the pre-release version of the album on cassette for about a month before it was officially released so I miss Important Words and Got love if you want it, but it’s still great as it is.
50 Genuinely Horrible Albums By Brilliant Artists. – Rolling Stone Fifth most “horrible” album, according to Rolling Stone.
You have twice commented that Death is not the end is funny, but not said why. You are obviously desperate to make some kind of point, so why not just do so?
Silvio's lyrics are great...if the Dead had done this song it could have been another Touch of Grey for them.
