What does it mean? How can I fix it? Can it be fixed? What other burning software supports FLAC?

I am trying it check the sound quality.

I guess the next question would be what is this the best way to make quality CD-R mixes?

I have been copying tracks through WMA lossless files, but I've heard compression is added. Is this true?

What format should I use? WAV? MP3? bits?... :help:

FLAC is a lossless compression. You only use FLAC when you're downloading FLAC files and you want to burn them either directly or decompress them into wav for direct recording.

Nero will support FLAC when you put the appropriate plug in files in the Nero plugin folder.

Flac installer and "Front end" is at http://cyberial.com/flacinstaller.asp

Nero plugin for FLAC is at http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/

If you're copying/backing up a CD, you shouldn't use anything like FLAC because it's unnessesary. Use EAC for that, http://www.exactaudiocopy.de

So I have to decode before I burn? I was trying to burn FLAC files as FLACs not as WAV files.(As you can tell this is all new to me.)

Excuse my ignorance, but is Nero software or hardware?

Am I choosing "FLA" how do I install a plugin?

How do I determine which version I need?

To avoid coasters if expansion fails, I suggest expanding the flac files to wav first and then burn.

The above also allows for reviewing the music before burning, which may be a good idea especially when the source is not reliable.

That's not an error message at all. It's telling you "this is how much information you're burning to disc" and "this is how much free space the disc has".

FLAC is bit for bit identical to the original wave.

    No. Lossless is lossless.

No. FLAC files are files like any other. Any software that can do data discs (read: almost all of them) can handle FLAC.

    Software.

    Thanks for the clarifications.

So is WAV the way to go to get the best quality copy of tracks?
