So I sautered the broken wire I had and I hooked up my Shure cartidridge to my MMF 5 turntable. Now I have a pretty loud buzz. It's clearly from my cartiridge wires and it's all of them not just the sautered wire. I put my finger there, move the wires around and it gets worse or better depending on what I do. I do I get rid of the buzz from cartridge wires?

If you need more info, let me know.

You could have a bad cartridge, bad audio cable, bad plug(s), or a bad ground wire. I'd check your ground path first.

You haven't given enough info to assess what's wrong. What wire needed soldering? What you describe sounds like the ground wire from the turntable is bad, or not hooked up. By ground wire, I mean that there is usually a third wire (the other two are the RCA connectors) that comes from the turntable and is attached to your preamp.

First make sure your TT is grounded. Then report back to us.

(With me - it's always the simple things that I did not do that causes trouble.... :sigh: )
