Maybe the Frankie Goes To Hollywood extended cassette mixes from their first four singles (with free download code as I no longer own a cassette player)

I'd love to have a copy of Rockin' and Romance by Jonathan Richman. It was released on LP back in the day, but I always remembered owning the cassette. Supposedly it was released on CD, but I've never been able to locate it.

I vote for "12 Inches on Tape" by Yes. Otherwise, this is a completely idiotic idea.

Looks like GoDaddy must have had another one of their "register a domain for $1.09" sales.

All of the jokes in here are hilarious. Comparing cassettes to wax cylinders. Wow. In all of my years I've never heard that one!

At record store day I saw a twentysomething year old girl walk in with her friends. She sees a rack of cassettes on the wall and says "Ooooo would you look at that! Man I gotta get me some tapes, cause (*in saracastic tone*) you know nuthin' says I luv you like Nickelback on cassette!".

That's all I have for this thread, sorry.

Actually there are some here who'd argue that wax cylinders have better DR graphs than cassettes!

When cassette decks have no stinking, hard to replace, inaccessible belts, and there is such a thing as azimuth and speed constancy, I might consider them again for new anything. But like they say, show me the CRO2 or Metal in shops and in abundant quantities. Build a cassette deck my way, and it would be about as portable as an Otari MX 5050 B II open reel machine. But it would not go FUBAR too much (Fouled Up Beyond All Recovery)

Yeah, mention vinyl and you'll get a wax cylinder reference within 10 posts. Mention cassettes and get it in 3.

I shall be getting the Deerhunter release, provided I can get it here in the UK.
I look forward to see what other titles are announced.

Lame! For one thing, there is no such thing as a "cassette store." It's not like Record Store Day is only for stores that exclusively sell vinyl. Record stores sell vinyl, CDs, cassettes, posters, DVDs, etc. It's all about supporting independent venues that sell physical music product, whatever the format. This "cassette store" nonsense is crazy. Sell your cassettes on RSD instead of creating a competing "event."

Using this logic, we should also have:
    "7-inch vinyl store day"
    "12-inch vinyl store day"
    "8-track tape store day"
    "USB stick store day"
    "3-inch CD store day"
    "CD store day"
    "SACD store day"
    "DVD-A store day"

I can't wait until we get the following threads on here:

"You haven't heard Sgt Pepper until you've heard the Made In Japan (mono) cassette"
"That Dolby NR makes my 1985 Purple Reign cassette unlistenable..."
"The 1990 BMG music club cassette is probably my 6th favorite tape version of Synchronicity"

They're just jealous that they don't have a MONO first pressing Thomas A. Edison wax cylinder of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" like I do....
