Oh my! Just received three CCR releases: their first lp, Green River and Willie. Played the first one last night and was totally blown out of my seat. THE BASS on "I put a spell on you" is chest pounding. Fantastic job and hats off to Steve and Kevin. Can't wait to hear the rest. Has anyone compared Cosmo's factory to the MFSL pressing. I know Steve's mastering on that one must be fantastic, but the mfsl sounds great, too. Just wondering what differences members can hear. Thanks again Steve and Kevin!

I only can compare the DCC Gold CD with Mofi's LP remaster... it depends on your taste! I think... Mofi's remaster is one of their best efforts... heavily eq'd, but for the better way!

Someone prefers the DCC... the other one the Mofi! Both records sound better than the regular US pressings (K2 remasters).

The actual sound of the Cosmos Factory master mixes (according to Steve) is much like the DCC disc. The MFSL LP that I have has totally jacked up the treble to where it screws up John's voice. Again, it depends on what you like and how well your stereo resolves.

After reading all the posts on Steve's Forum these past months, I must admit that it has become impossible for me to listen to any MoFi LP without hearing all the processing that was done. I'm innocent no longer. :(

Well, yes and no as far as it "being impossible to listen to my mofi lp's". I, too, can hear in areas where mofi jacked up some things. Some mofi's are better than others. But ALL my mofi's beat the pants off of my cd's that I had in comparison at one time. I'll never forget buying the CD of The Beatles "A Hard Days Night." OH my god! Total crap. I knew the mofi could best it. So I went out and bought a sealed one for $65. At the time that was a lot of money for me. When I put that baby on and compared------oh man, no comparison at all. The mofi came alive with the music I remembered. And even though Stan Ricker EQ'ed the beatles, it was still so smooth and warm in comparison to the CD. Now, if Steve were to remaster the Beatles catalog, then I'm sure it can be improved upon. But I have no problem listening to my mofi's. I found an original pressing of Nights in White Satin. Let me tell you----the mofi KILLED it sonically. No comparison. The original (that I had) was compressed and lifeless. So for the most part, mofi did ok.
