For those who are interested, Sonic Foundry is about to reintroduce CD Architect 5.0. You can download the public beta now at The beta expires on November 8. The list price winn be $299, and $209.99 downloadable. For those who know, Sonic Foundry made the best professional CD burning program ever for the PC. I'm testing it right now. SF CD Architect 5.0 beta
I primarily use CD Arcitect 4.0 for creating "new" CD-R projects (original music, vinyl transfers, etc.). I find it really give me all the control I need to structure the tracks, etc. For rips, I use EAC (which I think is wonderful). I'm still having some trouble burning with it because it announces an error in the final closing process. CD-R's seems fine but I'm still curious why there seems to be an error in this final stage (I have a Plexwriter 4/12)... Todd
OK well it seem to be more of a recording engineer program as opposed to EAC just being a burning program.
You guys are concentrating on ripping as opposed to CD mastering. EAC and CD Architect are two different animals. Todd, If I were you, I would upgrade that 4.5 to 6.0! You won't believe the improvements! It even works in 32-bit now.
I have been using 4.5 for years now and I can't believe how great the new version is. I was really sad when they didn't include it with Sound 5.0 and 6.0 but has been well worth the wait!! I can't wait until the final version is released with all the extra extras!!
Grant, I've been kind of sitting on the fence with doing the upgrade but I'm getting closer to doing it. Right now, I do most of my work in CEP 2.0 (which is pretty amazing) and noodle about in SF in the 16-bit domain. I use CD Architect for my CD-R work (which I think is still pretty tops for flexible authoring). Right now my "creative" work is kind of slow (personal issues, etc.) but in time I plan to bump it up again... Todd
No, it can't, Pro Tools is rotten on the PC. It's better on the Mac platform. If Pro Tools fro free was so great for the PC, none of the other companies would still be around.
I downloaded this and tried it for the first time ever...great program! Very professional interface and easy to learn. I do, however, have a question. Can CD Architect burn CDRs with text for text compatible players? I could not find any info on this and checked the web site too. Any help out there? Grant, can it be done?
YAY! Now I can get upgraded drivers for newer drives. All this talk of Cool Edit and all misses the point. CD Architect is a GREAT program for creating CDs. Different tool altogether.
Couldn't find the download link specifically for CD Architect. Found a whole wack of other items but not that. I ran a search in Google and found a simple download from here. CD Architect 5.0
All, this is the second time I have ever tried CD Architect. The first was an old demo with which I was not impressed by. This new beta is great! I hope SF offers a discount to beta testers. This program, along with Cool Edit Pro is a great combination!
>>>>>Know what I need? A quick way to copy a Cd but ADD some tracks from my hard drive. What I do now is to RIP all the tracks from the CD into a file, then add the new songs to that file, then launch Easy Cd Creator, go to that file and burn, baby burn. Theres gotta be a qucker way. Anybody have any ideas? Mikey
Actualy, you Can do it with CD Creator, but it is less reliable. I did it years ago, I just don'r remember exactly how because I do the same thing you do now. Besides, our way, I can go in and adjust all the tracks to the same volume level.
