Thanks for keeping me on my toes. I had to go down in the basement and dig through my CDs to see if I had some other copy of this album, and indeed I have the Warner remaster from 2000.

And WTF did they do with the CD layer on the SACD??? :realmad: It's an abomination. No wonder I never kept that rip.

Yes, the original ABBA - The Visitors CD has DR15 ;)

  11. Yes, the original mastering of Brothers In Arms has a very impressive dynamic range. I have the West German Vertigo disc. The track "The Man's Too Strong" is incredible.

The original AM+ of Cat Stevens Greatest Hits is also very impressive. The track "Hard Headed Woman" is extremely dynamic.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, Elton John's "Captain Fantastic" (German DJM and MCA) both show DR15.

Notice that the MCA version has a little more compression than the DJM.

Calling Mac users - can anyone recommend a dynamic range meter that's a standalone product? Not a Waves plugin etc.

There's a free DR meter for Mac. Brad posted a link to it not that long ago.
