Of these, I’ve only seen the first Dirty Harry. Anyone know what the follow-ups are like? Got the box for £2.

I plan to watch the sequels myself...got the Blu Ray box (new, and at a new price). That's a steal! I think Magnum Force and Sudden Impact are meant to be pretty good...I didn't even know about the last one till I bought the set.

    EG.

It should come as no suprise that none of the Dirty Harry sequels are very good.
They're ok but that's about it.

'Lonesome Dove' is excellent. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones are both great in it as are the rest of the cast.

I’ve caught bits and pieces when it’s played on cable, but never seen the whole thing. I’m looking forward to that.

Purchases on the CD front have been quiet of late and inspired by the DVDs posted on here. I decided to take a look at the DVDs in charity shops.
Early in the month I picked up The Damned United and The Good The Bad & The Ugly (2DVD).

On Monday I picked up these:
The Wire - The Complete First Season (2005) It was in a sleeve and an unbroken cellophane wrapper, 5DVD running time 775 minutes
Carlos The Jackal: The Trilogy (2010) 3DVD running time 336 minutes
Che Part One | Part Two (2009) 2DVD running time 257 minutes

    Cost £2

I've enjoyed all six of these. The bit in the U2 film where they go to Sun studios is great, as is the sequence where at Graceland, Larry wants to sit on Elvis's motorbike.

I've been rewatching The Wire (just started Season 5). Have you seen it before?

Yes, years ago when it was first shown. I remember enjoying it and I watched the complete series. It was one of the best TV shows I've seen, up there along with The Sopranos, Treme, Breaking Bad, The Bridge, Borgen & Game of Thrones etc. One of the dubious bonuses of getting older, is that TV series and films you have seen a long time ago can be enjoyed again!
