I have 2 sets of the 1963 Karajan's Beethoven cycle - the SACD set and the redbook set. The 1977 cycle is the only set I have on LP. The same set also came with this mega box I bought over a year ago from Amazon UK. While George has probably finished listening to the set, I have only listened to the first 2 CD's so far ...

BTW, this set may already be OOP ...

Rare? I have seen it around with some other of Her releases but can't remember where.

Excellent and in full stereo sound. Her Partitias No. 2 is some of the best performances I have ever heard. Only Glenn Gould came close. But then Glenn Gould considered Tureck as his spiritual mentor and both were considered the foremost interpreter of JS Bach keyboard works ...

But that St Petersburg live concert was held in 1995. At 81 at the time, her performance was flawless. I imagine the CD has the full concert.

Gonna dive straight into the remaining stuff.
    I love it.
    What do you think?
(Too bad the remaster is meh soundwise - too much NR, too much eq, I think they tweaked it for low listening volumes, if I turn up the volume on 11 as the music suggests me to do those horns punch holes in my ears).
I only have this and Mahler 5 - Karajan 1969 (?), to be exact (and I like it, I think the Karajan approach kinda works for Beethoven, Mahler and anything that's supposed to be oomphy - also I like the SQ) - am I missing out something (yes, I am, I know that already)?

    Anyone have this?
I have it on hold from that collection I'm buying out of.

Samples on Amazon sound VERY nice!!
I'm kinda fond of Hickox conducted pieces anyway.

This one is also on hold for me.
