ah thanks for your reply regarding the Heinichen - Dresden Concertos set...I've been listening to it a lot since I received it. Gotta look for more works by this composer!

    Jim, Anytime.

I used to buy many CD's from ImportCD until I received the Mendelssohn Piano Works set where the fatboy (the case holds up to 6 CD's) was almost totally crushed due to flimsy packaging. While the CD's were undamaged, it was a lousy experience, not that the USPS really cares about how they handle package ...

I will never dispose of any of my physical media. The only challenge is where to find a particular CD occasionally. While my 4000 LP's are all located on three large shelves in the same (music) room, my CD's are spread across multiple shelves in multiple rooms and I refuse to put my stereo and music in the basement, which is spacious for obvious reason ...

Now playing CD13 - Mozart Symphony No. 40, Schubert Symphonies Nos 2 & 8 from the following set for a first listen. This set brings back all the old glories of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and many EMI recordings which have been OOP for years ...

The closest I come to that is I can access my Network AVR from my iPhone within house WiFi. Remote App for Yamaha.
Thus I can access music that's on my computer.....my iPhone.....Net Radio....
AM/FM Radio....USB.....TV......CD and DVD all thru my home AVR.
    It's the cats ---!!
IF I had ripped ALL my music to my PC I could access it all thru my AVR.
Back in the day to do this woulda cost a fortune. I don't think I have more than $1500 in my whole setup.
    I love modern technology!!

The reference to Krips previously reminded me that I listened to this LP a couple of days ago:

Is this available on cd? I don't remember it being part of the Living Stereo sacd releases, which is really a shame.

Anyway, what a grand, aristocratic performance by Rubistein!!!

If I had to sum it up in one word, I would say "class"!

I think there are only some 15 Living Stereo SACD's out there. Does this sound right? I know I have ten of them ...

Perhaps because the sound wasn't quite up to par for that series? I've read some criticism of the sound and people seem to think his 1960s with Leinsdorf would have been the better choice for that purpose.

This is my recommendation for Mozart. Have never listened to Krips, but this is extremely good in my view. I wish he has recorded some of these same symphonies again later in life (as opposed to only the final three), but the vintage nature of these recordings does have its appeal.

The sound is not bad but it's true that it is not up to par with some other Living Stereo recordings. Still it's a shame that this is OOP though.
