While reading through a Judas Priest thread I noticed how people often call their 1978 album Stained Glass when it is in fact Stained Class. Looking at the album cover it's an easy mistake to make but considering there is a title track on the album one listen would confirm it's correct title....

Are there any other albums you can think of that get their titles misread on a regular basis?

The name of this little known band is `EAGLES`, and not `THE EAGLES`!

Didn't St Vincent end up naming her rearrangement album MassEducation just because that's what everyone thought Masseduction was called?

While I appreciate your input I'm really talking about ALBUM titles not band names...there's a plethora of bands where "The" has been wrongly added or subtracted on instances (The Scorpions, The Sweet etc etc etc)

I misread it all the time—and I’ve never even heard the album.

If your band name is a plural ending in 's' a 'the' at the beginning is mandatory, other wise it sounds stupid.
See also The Pixies, The Swans etc
(although maybe (the) Sparks can get away with it because, well, they're (the) Sparks!)

Never mind, I just got it. Not a Genesis fan, or else I’d probably have known it.

    Sorry. Just read your post.

Yes, I remember being 12 or 13 when Trick came out, and me and my brother seeing the album in Woolworths and childishly giggling because we thought the title was - uh - something else:D

The vast majority of plurals need the "the" in most contexts. No one says "I'm going to see Eagles at the Stinky Bowl tonight!"

But a few bands get away with it: you can mention Talking Heads or Wings without an added "the" and not sound silly...

  17. I think there's a difference between calling them the Eagles and The Eagles. Only in writing of course.

That reminds me that when I was a kid and noticing a lot of records with the title Live! I thought it was verb. I couldn't understand why so many were asking me to do that, but now I'm thinking that if they had meant that, it would have been pretty cool.

I can't think of an album title, but I do have a song title. There is a song on Tori Amos' 1999 album To Venus and Back called 'Riot Poof.' P-O-O-F.

Everyone from fans to journalists have misread and mistyped it incorrectly as 'Riot Proof.' This has gotten to the point that this is currently how the song is listed on Spotify.
