Compilation albums which feel (at least to you) to be part of an artists core studio album discography?

I’ll start with these 2, which for years I didn’t know were technically compilations!

Pious Bird Of Good Omen - Fleetwood Mac

    Morrissey - Bona Drag

They recorded a couple of unique versions for that album, and added song intros

I have a rather expansive Bob Marley collection, despite it adding nothing "new" I'd argue Legend fits the criteria.

I guess it's been rendered redundant, but I used to think this about Jethro Tull's "Living in the Past".

It's a classic! "Going To Pasalacqua" is my all time favorite Green Day song. It also has kind of a hippy vibe to it, like it's a punk album made in the 60s.

    Tom Waits' "Orphans"

Kraftwerk's "The Mix" is on the fence. It's a compilation and it's not.

I'm not sure what the general thoughts are, but I have always considered

    Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy
    and
    Odds and Sods
Part of the Who's core studio albums

    I have always considered

    Golden records 1,2,3,4
A Date With Elvis and a couple of others
As part of Elvis Presley's core studio albums...

Probably more contentious, but I always considered Echo and the Bunneymen- Songs to Learn and Sing part of their core studio albums....

Sly & The Family Stone's GREATEST HITS. It had 3 unique songs (Hot Fun, Thank U, Everybody Is A Star) not available on any other studio album.

The Cure Boys Don't Cry and Japanese Whispers...I bought both of them in high school thinking they were proper albums, only to find out later that they were UK singles compilations.

agreed re all those Elvis ones -- the compilers of the big 60 Years box agreed as they included them all as individual albums

I was just about to post these two! They work well as stand alone albums. Boys Don't Cry was the first US release of the band and is actually better than Three Imaginary Boys

At least at the time of issue - George Harrison - Best of Dark Horse
Only place to get Cheer Down, Poor Little Girl, and Cockamamie Business
Had the best of a few weaker albums too (Somewhere in England and Gone Troppo)
    Decent flow.
