    Awesome!
How did the platter feel like?
I would definitely not dare to cue it up when at a convention/show/fair (what’s the difference anyways?), too wobbly for a clumsy person like me :p

It didn't feel any different, not wobbly from what I remember. I don't recall actually touching the platter though. If I see a Mag Lev at the next AXPONA, I'll grab the platter and see what happens.

The Metaxas gear is pretty cool from an industrial design standpoint this is their Ikarus Integrated:

And of course the Memento Mori headphone amp.

My Delphi V/VI Reference on the gorgeous Grand Prix Audio Brooklands carbon composite wall mount. Oracle has been making stunning looking (and sounding) turntables since the late '70s. And the core industrial design which has been shared across every evolution of there table remains timeless.

I really like Pathos' designs, too, but that one reminds me too much of the shuttlecraft designs in the first couple of Star Trek movies.

I would think that it would be a perfect design, in a perfect world, that is.

When you balance the wheels on your car, you do so with the tires on the wheels.

A perfectly balanced platter achieves very little uses one is playing a perfectly balanced record...

As soon as I saw that I had to find out more about it as it is something I would like to add to my collection of audio equipment. Once I've read the pricetag of $5000 pounds I didn't want to know much more about it:cry:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course but I like the look of both my modified/tweaked Gyrodec and Unison Research Triode 25. My rack has a bit of an industrial look to it but the Triode 25 seems to fit in with it.

Neither one of them are particularly traditional looking anyway.

In case of a nuclear war this would be a very cool piece of gear. Inherited from my father. Lol.

This looks like a Blade Runner piece right here. Fun! Do high end CD player devices usually implement tubes like this? How do the tubes impact playback?

It was solidly built too - but the QC not the greatest as was common on earlier Chinese equipment so the laser when after about 4 years. And there are lots of great high end cd players without tubes. Now I'm running a tube modified Sony SACD player that isn't anywhere near as sexy as the Shanling, but the sound is wonderful. Putting tubes in the signal path (like on any piece of gear) creates a warmer sound that I prefer.

I had the CD only version of that B&O. It lasted 6 months before the doors malfunctioned.
