Does anyone have the 'inside scoop' (or a link, for that matter) on the form, or forms, of CD copy control technology that we've seen more and more of in recent months? In searching past threads, there seems to be agreement that CC does violate the redbook standard for CDs, but do we know for certain that it impacts the quality of the music in any way? I don't tend to burn copies of anything for secondary use elsewhere, or play discs on a computer drive, but I would want to steer clear if, somehow, the reproduction of the music is impacted when being read by a 'traditional' CD or DVD home theater component.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    mark,

in my limited testing of a Copy Controlled CD, it played fine in my relatively new iBook, my 7yr Meridian and my 1yr Toshiba DVD player. It would only play the very low res version on a WinXP PC, after installing some software (even when we didn't want the software installed!)

Some people have reported probllems with some DVD players and the odd CD player.
