Lucinda Williams Livestream Series

Join award-winning, revered singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams on an unprecedented musical journey spanning time and multiple genres with her latest endeavor, Lu’s Jukebox! This six-episode series of mostly full-band, in-studio performances will feature a themed set of songs, curated by the multi-Grammy award winner. As a bonus, she’ll introduce an occasional Lu-rarity or new song that fits each episode’s theme.

Born in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, this collection of songs and stories will also benefit the struggling independent music venues that have helped to foster her decades-long career. A percentage of each ticket will go directly to the venue through which it was purchased.

Lu has poured her heart and soul into each of these episodes. From hand-selecting the songs to giving it her all in the studio, this series has been a journey you won’t want to miss.

“We’ve actually wanted to do a cover series for a long time now, but never had the time with my touring schedule”, says Williams. “I guess the silver lining in all of this has been to be able to really get inside the songs of some of my favorite artists – see what makes them tick. My hope for this project is that we’ll be able to help as many venues as we can. They’re our homes, as artists. We have to take care of them, for the sake of live music to come.”

Are you guys really still locked down for live concerts and live music? Where are you at? France? Germany? UK?

There is no lock down here for live music at my local pubs here in the United States.

 

there are virtually no indoor concerts happening in the USA at this time

New Jersey has some places trying socially distanced indoor concerts, but I'm hesitant to go to any with cases rising again with the cold weather. (The thought of skipping Jorma Kaukonen in Red Bank in December is killing me).

I'll stick with live streams and outdoor summer concerts next year (if that's the only option again).

 

Did anyone attend this?

It was a bad time of day for me, and it doesn't look (unless I'm missing it) like I can stream it on demand. A recent noon chrorus show of GBV streamed for a week, I watched it 3x

Ditto! I and a few others on her FB page also convinced her mgmt team to offer posters (which Lu will be signing!) of the publicity image used for the Petty show - thrilled about that: am hoping there will be one for the Stones show.

The Petty show was simply tremendous (never in doubt!) and has got me really excited about the others.

I think it may be different according to regions within the U.S. Throughout, it's been a different experience depending on what part of the country you reside in.
Grace Potter had been doing a free, non-ticketed live-stream series of shows during the summer. By the end, she'd stopped that & began doing car-load shows in New England states.
