He’s a Harvard grad - he’s very smart. We’ve gotten to see that through his comedy, and now another side has been shown in his interviews on his podcast.
Have you watched Conan’s interview with Mark Lewisohn? It’s on youtube, much recommended. I rewatch it every now and then.
At the Conan interview Paul also played an excerpt from his new movie. Apparently it's called Macca & Me...
To those that have read the new book, what did you think of the introduction? I thought Paul’s was great, but kind of scratching my head at Jill Lepores intro. She seem’s to be struggling really hard to figure out what the Beatles represented, but I didn’t think she offered any real answer (at least from what I read) Also, I understand giving context for world events of the time, and of course the Civil Rights movement was an important one, and the debt the Beatles owe to black music is huge, but I thought she was struggling to make more of a connection between the two . I might have to reread it sometime. She keeps posing the question of what did the Beatles actually represent without ever giving a answer.
I was there and got about seven minutes of kinda shaky video. As others have stated, the presentation was excellent. Conan was the perfect choice as he is a well-known Beatle nerd and asked all the right questions. There was one great moment (sort of captured on the video, but unfortunately there was some distractions going on right in front of me regarding seating) where as Paul was talking about John, Conan mistakenly advanced the photo which caused Paul to make a few jokes at Conan's expense. Conan said "you're making a fool out of me", to which Paul quickly replied "it's easy!" Very funny moment from a memorable evening.
Paul McCartney on Twitter: "Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the world (including me!) Thanks for the birthday wishes. Here’s hoping everyone else can join in the celebrations - Paul"
BTW, for anyone in the U.S. looking to buy the McCartney photo book, Amazon and Walmart both currently have it on sale for $45-!
Watched the Tom Hanks movie Man Called Otto last night and was pleasantly surprised that the Fireman track "Sun Is Shining" was used in the film.
"However Absurd", McCartney's attempt at a psychedelic-esque album closer for Press to Play, has never really hit me much emotionally - and I say that as a fan of Press to Play - but after a recent album listening the bridge has really stuck in mind. I actually think these lyrics are kind of beautiful in their own way: Something special between us When we made love the game was over I couldn't say the words Words wouldn't get my feelings through So I keep talking to you However absurd, however absurd... it may seem
Happy Birthday, Paul! Artwork by Mark Reynolds Animation by Alex Amelines Can you spot all the references?
Holy s. Aside from the hair color, I look about as old as Paul and I'm only 47! Paul looks incredible for his age. Or maybe I just look like a train wreck. The jury is still out.
Philip Ardagh on Twitter: "Today's Paul McCartney's 81st birthday. I wrote the book HIGH IN THE CLOUDS (illustrated by Geoff Dunbar) with Paul. It's currently being made into a movie by @Gaumont_Anim & @Netflix with a song performed by @ladygaga. Here you can see me right at the heart of the recording."

Paul McCartney | News | You Gave Me The Answer – ‘Eyes of the Storm’ Exhibition and Book Special! "PaulMcCartney.com: Is there anything in particular you hope people will get from reading your new book? What do you hope their main takeaway will be? Paul: Well, I mainly see it as a ‘behind the scenes’ publication. After all these years, it was lovely for me to be taken backstage again. I love just looking at old pictures of the guys, for example, ones of John with his glasses; obviously it's hugely sad, because I miss him so much. But this just reminds me of growing up with him and all the pleasant memories. "
Yes, thanks for the heads up…I guess . I’ve got a zillion Beatles books so I wasn’t going to buy yet another one but when you posted the sale price I became like a zombie from the Walking Dead and managed to press “buy now” before my zombified brain had a chance to think about it. I’ll receive it tomorrow.
