David Bowie: Hunky Dory - Anniversary..

Well, they haven't announced any new physical releases for the Ziggy anniversary, but they have released a 2022 Mix of Starman from Top of the Pops.

 

FFS...as if we all hadn't been bored to tears enough about how every second musician was inspired by that TOTP moment and how they felt like Bowie was talking directly to them when he pointed the finger to the camera "...so I picked on you"...

Bring on the proppa archive stuff!

 

Well, there is always hope for the 100th anniversary as DB.com mentioned.

 

I think I'll be dead before then.

 

Always smacked of retro-fitting to me, that 'moment'.

 

It gives us all something to live for. I for one will be a spritely young man of 110.
Who knows, maybe they will wheel out Ken Scott from the producers` retirement home, strap in some hearing aids,
and let him finish mixing the rest of the album...no bones about it.

 

By the way, in the five years old grey whistle test video, for some reason,
Mr. B gets a scary monstrous looking face towards the end of the performance.
Perhaps it is distortion, but for sure it is quite haunting.

Over in the Ziggy thread there was a link to a quote that says the big box set is coming in 2023.Vinyl production log jam again.

I saw that comment too and I was more under the impression that A big box set is coming next year. I’m still hoping a different one is coming this year.

I doubt it.The bucks are in the expensive $150-200 physical boxes if there is a strong market for that title.
After getting burnt with very low sales for Conversation Piece and cutting back in scale for Width Of A Circle they would have identified Ziggy as the most likely basis for a successful expensive box.I think it will be combined with the Hunky Dory sessions and we will get a mix of demos,alternates,BBC performances,non album tracks and whatever other flotsam and jetsam they have.
