Did The Beatles' 'Let it Be' Album Deserve "Octopus's Garden" More Than 'Abbey Road'?

I'm not sure any album deserved Octopus's Garden tbh

Octopuses' Garden would sound very out of place on the more orchestral, less effects and rock 'n' roll oriented Let It Be.

Well, if you “literally” die a little bit , not “figuratively” die a little bit, you won’t have to worry about it much longer .
With all the “what if ”Beatles threads here , your death is right around the corner . ;)

I don't have an opinion on "Octopus's Garden," but "Don't Let Me Down" was certainly very deserving for inclusion on Let it Be.

Oh I'm sure it would fit nicely about 4 tracks deep into Metal Machine Music, perhaps...

I thought everybody knew Abbey Road was the last Beatles album. So what's the problem?

I personally like both songs (more so the former), they help prevent the album from being too reliant on blues rock

A version of "It Don't Come Easy" was recorded before the "Let It Be" LP came out: a version of the song, if recorded by George, Paul and Ringo, would have fit well on the "Let It Be" album.

The band decided to release an album with songs worked up in January. That was the central theme to the project, whether Glyn Johns or Phil Spector was producing. The band should have used "Octopus's Garden" for that project, as the film captured them performing the song. The album is related to the film in that way. They decided to harvest it for Abbey Road, even though its history was importantly tied to the Let it Be project.

Abbey Road has one blues progression on it.

Huh? Why don't we throw Love Me Do on the Let It Be album too?

I never noticed it, but then again side 1 ends with a track filled with distortion. I never heard any side 2 issues with my pressings (UK, US, Japan)

I think Abbey Road deserved “Maybe I’m Amazed”.

  18. The OP's premise certainly has merits, but O'sG was deserving of the nice, full production and commitment it received on "Abbey Road". It's an uplifting singalong number, needed IMO to better balance this album, and I wouldn't have it without this relatively famous Ringo song on it.

There's more than one blues-rock song on the album.

In one of the other threads (Abbey Road? LIB 5oth?) someone speculated that if Ringo didn't have OG for Abbey Road, it's possible that MSH would have been given to him. It was noted (I think correctly) that MSH would have been a much better vehicle for Ringo than Paul's vocalizations. So on that basis, I'd say, yes, OG would better have been included on Let it Be, leaving MSH as the Ringo number on Abbey Road.

The only thing that could possibly make Maxwell an even worse recording would be to have Ringo's foghorn voice bellowing out the lyrics. Although I do admit the stupidity of the lyrics seem much more suited to a Ringo novelty song.

Paul was a dedicated and committed husband and father. He likely was the most honorable husband out of all of rock's royalty, never once fooling around on the side, once he married Linda:
