I have a hard time with the concept since I draw a line between funk and disco (although not to digress some acts and songs straddle that line). Peace Frog is imo clearly within the funk genre, not disco.

Yes and no: JB did proto funk, proto rap, proto nearly everything that stands, but disco? The key element IMO is the salsa beat.
(Or did he happen to tackle that beat too? If so, I'll stand corrected)

"Peace Frog" is definitely one of the funkier songs by a white rock band in the 60s, I'll give the OP that.

Wikipedia lists "You Keep Me Hanging On" by the Supremes as an early proto-Disco song.

I meant between the comparison of disco and funk... Almost everything I've listened to of his would be considered soul.

One of my favorite Doors tunes. It does have a disco-like beat to it, but I'd say Touch Me, with the orchestra (kind of like Love's Theme) and intense funky ending, may fit the bill as more of a proto-disco Doors song.

I'd say it's more funk than disco. The earliest song I've heard with a clear disco sound is "Shooting Star" from the Mamas & Papas' final album People Like Us (1971):

You can start a thread, then, when someone disagrees with you, you can run to Wiki, make a change, then quote it to bolster your argument.

I hear more disco in I Can Feel Your Heartbeat or Bandela by the Partridge Family in 1970. I also vastly prefer those records to anything by The Doors.

    um, no.

disco came from james brown - parliament - funk and all the other guys that learned that style and started doing it, or, doing things to it.

The Doors dont enter into this equation, at all.

Peace Frog has that simple A to F#m thing (I think, its been a long time, but we used to play it) and I dont know where they, or Krieger, ripped that off from, possibly Pretty Woman by Orbison altho that is a huge wild guess ... but lots of other rock bands ripped it off again, from the Doors.

One song that can be pointed out as a big influence on disco (certainly moreso than "Peace Frog") would be "Soul Makossa" by Manu Dibango from 1972.
