They don't, I asked Wilko Johnson. They did some tracking on demos for Trevor Horn but they weren't used on the final tracks.

I love the song The Highwayman by The Highwaymen. As I was listening to it today, I thought the guitar sounded like Mark Knopfler. It wasn't. But as I was researching, I found this...

A Mark Knopfler collaboration with Jimmy Webb, the songwriter behind The Highwayman. Absolutely fantastic!

What’s the source of this? Wikipedia does not mention any involvement by Elton.

That was later corrected by someone else. My mistake. He played on the 1992 MTV Video Awards (live) version, not the studio version.

(PS - I wrote that comment nearly six years ago, but your question was well-timed. I played "November Rain" last night for the first time in over twenty years! I woke up about ten minutes ago and I still have it in my head.)

Australian teen pop idol Normie Rowe had a big local hit in 1966 with “It’s Not Easy”. Amongst the session players on the record were Jimmy Page and John-Paul Jones.

    No. Per Donovan himself:
"Paul is on the recording, but he’s only singing background. That’s my voice saying ‘quite rightly.’ Paul just happened to be in the studio that day and pitched in."
